Birds of Prey: Mystery & Murder

Fantastic condition

Writer Gail Simone has been oft considered to be the best writer for the Birds of Prey. This collection is a pretty good candidate for why that is. Ranging from a muscle bound jerk to a cabal of secret ninja’s. This collection has a great variety and really superb character writing. The artwork is gorgeous and vibrant. The best part of this collection to me is just the character bios in the end. It’s pretty dope.I love this book. I’d give it a chance!

For years, I had always been told to read this series, so I finally broke down and grabbed this book. With Gail Simone and Ed Benes on it, what could go wrong? I found the story to me a major drag, unfortunately. It’s a shame, because I read almost everything Black Canary and I do love Batgirl. The Huntress is one of my favorite characters, as well. I just didn’t like the pacing, the story itself, and a few other things. The whole kidnapping of Black Canary dragged on and out longer than it should have. That story takes a good chunk of the book, and by the time Huntress shows up, I think the book runs out of steam. Maybe, the earlier trade paperbacks of Birds of Prey are great, but maybe the hype killed my mood for this one. It didn’t live up to my expectations. At least, I gave it a shot. Maybe, I’ll try reading it again.

This review is basically just for idiots like me who saw 'new BOP with Gail Simone?' *buy* I later realised It was a collection of the old run from the 2000's so I already had them in single issues.If you haven't already got them though, definitely give it a go, Gail Simone is one of my favourite comic authors and this collection shows you why

Durante mucho tiempo estuve buscando esta historia y tenía las expectativas muy altas y sin duda las cumplió, en si la historia es lo de menos lo importante es ver cómo se crean los vínculos entre ellas

Glad to see this re-released as I never read the series when it was originally published and never got the original trades. Great character work on Black Canary, Huntress and Oracle (Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Batgirl). The story holds up very well. Nice artwork too.
