Fun arcade type of game with refreshing story.
I have not beaten the game yet, but have played at least 8 hours. So far its incredible. I'm not upset over the lack of multiplayer since the story and single player are well done. It does go over the top with the sci-fi elements but its a nice break over everything out now trying to be more real, with real stories, and scenarios. Seeing mechs automated or piloted, dogs with metal infused parts and fused humans to robot bodies was implemented well. Basically, it does well in adding all these familiar elements to WW2 setting without it being cheesy. It's an alternate setting almost like a "what if" the Germans won the war? American history gets altered for example they become first to land on the moon, atomic bombs etc (leaving things out to avoid giving away the cool parts). But you get the idea. If anything, they accomplish MORE at an accelerated rate than what we did in the past few years. Some of the advanced items we have now (as in 2014) they had a few years after the war and more. Weapons are from WW2 but you run into some advanced weapons later on and Sci-fi related ones. Regular bombs and Tesla bombs that discharges electricity as a weapon instead of an explosion. There are some interesting weapons, many which have an alternate mode like rapid fire, silencer, grenade launcher, tracking, and some that shoot at multiple targets but uses electricity as fuel. (making it not spammable or easy to take everyone out). Its well balanced that the cool weapons are not overpowered and force you to make every shot count. All weapons that are not special guns have a double handed mode like two handed shotgun, two handed pistol, two handed AK etc. You just need to pick up extra weapons to go into two handed weapon mode. (which are easily picked up from dead enemies.) Ammo is decently scattered and dropped from dead bodies. The AI is also good sometimes flanking you and moving away as you get closer vs stay still or in the same area. They follow you around so you can't just sit in an area and smart enough to know if you're in a hallway that there are two entrances to get to you.. I played on normal mode and found it challenging. Saw a few hard mode streams and they were brutal if not challenging. Also saw unlockable modes on the PS4 gaming stream and saw things like 999 mode that , if im not mistaken, is your health and no continues with a hard difficulty (there is also another hard mode called UBER with Death incarnate being hard. Was game streaming for a buddy of mine and noticed time fly by (3-4 hours) so obvious it catches my attention. My buddy in the game stream who was watching agreed its fun to watch, and hes a big time FPS gamer so that in itself says a lot. He agreed on everything including AI being smart. It looks nice with graphics being sharp and crisp on 1080p /60FPS the world does suck you in.. Just don't expect anything mind blowing like the Uncharted series or Infamous 2nd son style graphics. Controls are responsive, quick and weapons feel right. CONS: I have no complaints other than not being able to cycle weapons with triangle nonstop. In Wolfenstein, you select two weapons and they become your switchable weapon with the triangle button. However, if you pick up a weapon he uses it making the two you selected as switchable using triangle no longer there. This makes me stop, reassign the two I wanted and continue. This is NOT GAMING BREAKING just my personal preference. They should just allow you to assign it once picked up and not automatically used. There have been incidents where I like a specific weapon and I grab another since it was in the way and forced to use it and when hitting triangle it just swaps between the one picked up and my 2ndary. Hitting R1 which pulls up a wheel of weapons takes time to select. This to me isnt a big deal UNLESS you are in a heavy fire fight area and grabbed another gun by walking over it. This only affects weapons NOT in your inventory at the time. Like I said the game is pretty awesome and a nice break from all the realistic shooters with real scenarios.

One of the best games I've ever played
Wow. Where to begin? The story was absolutely fantastic. Graphics were amazing. Gameplay was smooth and open ended. Wolfenstein has undergone several variations over the years. The first being of course the classic Wolfenstein 3D the "grandfather" of first person shooters. In 2001 Activision and ID decided to reboot the series with Return to Castle Wolfenstein which explored some of the occult practices of the Third Reich and it was hailed as well as a great shooter. Then came Wolfenstein in 2009, while the story could have been better, the creators of this game looked to be making an estranged knockoff of Call of Duty. Wolfenstein dealt with the scientific practices of the Nazis in 1944, and I will say that the loose story was one of the redeeming qualities of Wolfenstein in 2009. And now in 2014 we have The New Order. The New Order continues to take place in the same universe as Return to Castle Wolfenstein (seeing as Wolfenstein 3D is considered by many a classic and there are several events in Wolfenstein 3D, Hitler's death, that contradict the rebooted series so it obviously takes place in an alternate timeline) and the New Order continues BJ Blazkowicz's fight against the Nazis. However it's not so simple. BJ takes part in a mission in 1946 to end the war once and for all by killing General Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse, a recurring antagonist in the rebooted series he has in fact been featured in every new Wolfenstein game so far. However, with the advanced technology the Third Reich has at it's disposal, BJ fails and the Nazis conquer the globe.BJ is critically injured and he awakens in 1960 and is introduced to this hellish world where Hitler's will rules all. Now it is up to him to assemble a resistance force and strike back. The alternate universe is amazing, yet somewhat disturbing, just considering all of the possible courses that our world could have taken is mind blowing. There are plenty of humorous nods to real events that occurred in the 60s save there is an added Nazi flair to it considering what has transpired. But the key thing here, is that as someone who has played Call of Duty and other first person shooters I have had a usual disinterest and a general uncaring notion toward the character that I'm playing as. In Wolfenstien the New Order, I legitimately felt for BJ Blazkowicz, I understood his wants, and his pain and all of the struggles that he goes through in this frightening world. Overall, absolutely amazing game and a must play for anyone who loves first person shooters, World War II games, alternate history games, and games that are emotional rollercoasters for the player. I am anxiously waiting to see what happens next with this series.

Not close to enough content for the price... No multiplayer, easy gameplay on the hardest mode.
I was eagerly awaiting this game, having been a fan of the franchise since DOS. I beat it on both campaign stories on the hardest mode in 5 days of around 3 hours of play a day. I was severely disappointed. It's easy on the hardest setting, I was able to plow through half the game with a silenced pistol without setting off many alarms. The game still has a wolfenstien feel, but it's half-assed. You waste a lot of time being an errand boy for your anti nazi insurgents, running around your hideout looking for indicators for tools and moldy cement. There never seem to be enough Nazis to shoot even when you decide you want to be Rambo, and the AI is laughable, they run into the open or run literally two feet in front of you making for easy kills. You can find secrets to unlock different game modes, I found 90% of them on my first pass, and I doubt it is worth it to find them all. Now my biggest problem is that return to caste wolfenstien on the original Xbox had some of my favorite multiplayer ever. This has 0 multiplayer, none. The game has amazing potential for multiplayer too, given the engine it's running on, but the developer decided to opt out of a multiplayer experience. Whatever. So this game might be great to some, but having been a long time fan of the franchise I'm very disappointed. Weak story, weak game play, no multiplayer, no real innovation but still $60. I'm literally returning my copy because I feel cheated out of around $30, I can't see this game being worth more than $30 based on its utter lack of content.

I was very surprised by this game. It is actually very good. Great action and very fun to play.Don't listen to the Negative people here, it's a great game, you won't regret it.

This is what all FPS games should aspire to be. The campaign is sufficiently long clocking in at about 10 hours give or take. The game mechanics are smooth and everything from the sound effects to the recoil of the guns makes it a very immersive experience. Once you get the hang of firing and weaponry there is nothing more satisfying than killing Nazis. Moreso for the higher levels of difficulty. The story and the setting is what really differentiates this game from other games in the genre. I am not one for online multiplayer games and the fact that most modern FPS games tend to focus on that has always frustrated me. So, Wolfenstein: The New Order with its no frills focused and energetic single player campaign seemed like it was made for me. Can't wait to start The New Colossus.

A worthy successor to the earlier Wolfenstein games and a great FPS to while away quite a few hours when you should be doing something useful. Very atmospheric with some moments to make you jump. Must be almost time to play it again – but turned up to the max this time.

I knew I'd like this game when I bought it, what I didn't think is that I'd like it this much, one of the best single player experiences on next gen. Amazing game, shipped with no problems.

Extraordinary game! I am playing the series of Wolf games for 15 years! This edition is also great just like its predecessors. Wonderful game, superb weapons, great graphics and action-packed long campaign!
