An interesting and entertaining read!
I loved the way the author delved into the history of the two wine regions that were the backdrop for the easy page turner story line! Can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy!

Absolutely Loved The Vintner's Daughter!
I was engrossed and trapped in The Vintner’s Daughter from Chapter One. You will be also if you enjoy reading historical fiction, romance novels, exploring vineyards, and following the life of women with ambition, motivation and strength. The primary and most likable character for me was Sara Thibault. She travels from France to New York to California constantly working to achieve her dreams of becoming a master winemaker……Sara has many highs and lows in life but is determined to succeed. I rooted for her in very chapter. I admire her tenacity, courage, faith and fight in support of the progression of women. The first-time novelist, Kristen Harnisch writes with clarity, vividness, boldness and excitement to bring picturesque vineyards, gruesome scenes and character development to in-your-face reality. I can so imagine touching and smelling the varying grapes in Paris to the barreling, bottling and sipping of a fine Pinot Noir in Napa Valley or a delectable Chenin Blanc from Loire Valley. The story, facts learned about wine and Sara’s fight are all so great! I’m looking forward to discussing with my book club, wine club and traveling to a few vineyards for a hands-on experience as detailed in the novel. I can’t wait to read The California Wife and The Vintner’s Legacy.

Well worth the purchase, except…
What happened to the Audible version? That’s how I was first exposed to the book. Then the Audible version disappeared… I don’t understand.

A beautiful novel that transports the reader back in time...
From the very first page The Vintner’s Daughter by Kristen Harnisch held me rapt within its pages. It transports us back to the 1800’s and into vineyard life at the turn of the century. It is historical fiction at its best offering us a bit of romance, love, hope, and an interesting look into the wine-making process during this time so long ago.Sara Thibault is a young woman to admire. Living in a time when women were generally thought of to only belong in a kitchen she fought to prove otherwise. Her one dream is to work and eventually run her family’s vineyard. Her father indulges her quite a lot in this as he has no son but the fact remains she is a woman and her only duty is to marry and have children. When Sara’s father dies in no tragic accident her life changes forever. To Sara’s horror and dismay her mother sells their family vineyard to a rival of her father and his eldest son marries Sara’s sister Lydia. Once again tragedy strikes and Sara and Lydia are forced to escape to New York. However Sara’s hardships aren’t over and it isn’t long before she forced to move on again, this time to California where she hopes to get into the wine-making business. The one thing she didn’t bargain on was meeting a man there who could melt her heart and have her believing in love and marriage. Yet this man, this man who has stolen her heart also has the power to destroy her for they share a bond that he knows nothing about. If he learns the truth about Sara will she once more lose all that matters to her?The Vintner’s Daughter was a really good read – one of my favorites this year. Sara, with her strength and independence is a great character and I connected with her and her story instantly. The Vintner’s Daughter is the debut novel from Kristen Harnisch and is the first in a series portraying vineyard life at the turn of the century. I’ll be watching for the next one for sure! For fans of historical fiction The Vintner’s Daughter comes highly recommended!

A must read for lovers of historical fiction!
Set in the1890’s in both France and America, The Vintner’s Daughter follows one young woman’s steadfast quest to carry on her father’s legacy and become a Vintner. The story opens in the Loire Valley where you are introduced to Sara Thibault, a strong-willed and lively young lady who knows what she wants in life, to follow in the footsteps of her winemaker father in their Chenin Blanc vineyards near Vouvray. Sara’s intense passion for wine is felt with each descriptive passage that Harnisch writes, completely transporting you to the vineyards of the Loire Valley and and the Napa Valley wine region.Throughout this first compelling novel by Kristen Harnisch she brings together a rich story of heartbreak, betrayal, atonement, and love. A must read for lovers of historical fiction!

Movie Material!
The Vintner's Daughter by Kristen Harnisch is a beautifully written story that comes full circle with a most satisfying and unpredictable ending. The story pulls you into the life and culture of the French wine country, New York City, and Napa Valley at the end of the 19th Century. Harnisch's characters are memorable and deep in emotion and personality, her settings are vibrant and full of life, and her knowledge of wine making woven throughout the story was my favorite part!Sara Thibault's coming of age, from a vintner's daughter to a true vintner herself, through trial after trial, kept me turning pages, fully engrossed in the story. I recommend this book for women who read romance and historical novels, anything on women's suffrage in the U.S., and certainly for men and women who enjoy wine tasting!

Engrossing story
The Vintner's Daughter is a riveting story, populated by characters that are real and complex. Sara's courage and determination move the story along, as she gains wisdom along the way. The settings in wine country in France and California are beautifully described, and the details on the business of wine in that period are fascinating. An engrossing read!

A historical story with all the right ingredients!
From the first page I found myself drawn into the life of a vintners family in France and their lifestyle dependant on those with power, with descriptions that painted a story which made it difficult to put the book down. You found yourself involved in the difficulties women in particular faced in the 1800s and the poverty experienced by many in America at that time. Although this is a powerful story, it keeps the reader absorbed throughout and the romantic side very believable. I can certainly recommend it.

a little simplistic
I didn't realize when I purchased the book that it was really jus a romance novel. I was hoping for something more epic, given the great historical scope.
