Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God (Christian Large Print Originals)

Live for Him, die for Him. That is all.
This book reminded me of why I should live like there is no tomorrow, because there may not be one. GOD will never call us to be comfortable so if you're comfy as a Christian you are doing it wrong. Read this book and allow God to show you how to do it right. Live for Him, die for Him. That is all.

Motivating at times, guilt-provoking at many others
I really enjoyed some of the things Chan had to say in his book. I felt challenged to think about things in a new way and to try to live out my faith more fervently. At the same time, I feel that his book pushes a "works over faith" mentality. He focuses very much on "What are you doing to show that you are living for Christ?", which is good to a point, but can also push people to focus so much on what they're doing that they forget to actually maintain a relationship with God. I found myself feeling very attacked at some points. I disagreed with some of his claims to things that should and should not be seen in the life of a follower of Christ. Biblical people who had sin issues in their lives despite being followers of God are completely ignored (David, Moses, Aaron, etc.). Instead, Chan gives the perception that people who have given their lives to Christ shouldn't have questions, shouldn't struggle, etc. Those that do, he appears to question their salvation.Chapter 5 was the chapter that really upset me. If it were not for the fact that we were reading this book for my life group, I would have stopped reading the book right there. Chan does have good things to say both in Chapter 5, before, and after, but some of the claims he made in Chapter 5 upset me so much (he suggested that a person asking if you have to be baptized to go to heaven is simply asking, can I not follow Christ and still get to heaven) that I was in tears and sick to my stomach.I think Chan had good intentions, but I do not agree with some of his claims and was very upset by several. Therefore, I would not recommend this book.

Praise God for this encouragement!
I've listened to all of Pastor Francis' messages from Cornerstone Simi Church's website and I gotta say he does include many of his already spoken messages in the book. But reminders is always a good thing. He exemplifies how honest and open we should be before God, to our own selves and before others as Christians while living in security and joy that God loves us UNCONDITIONALLY. His insights, the wisdom granted by God, reveals so much of who we are without sugarcoating or intellectualizing (?) a concept of sinfulness and God's grace as many others tend to sound.Personally I believe that as Christians, we hear and accept many wrong messages and beliefs as we grow older without ever questioning if such beliefs or understanding goes against the actual character of God and the design of the gospel, which is probably why our lives as Christians is not joyful nor satisfying and life becomes only about pain, suffering and frustration with no hint of love received or exercised.I think this book is a MUST-READ for any believers not seeing the evidence of transformation in their hearts.Besides, he is a hilarious fellow and the book couldn't be more easy read or enjoyable. SO ~ GOOD~

4.9 Stars
There is a whole lot of punch packed into this little book. Giving it a 4.9 star rating. This book really inspired me. I've been looking around me wondering about the state of the world lately. How we've gotten where we are. How we've forgotten to give glory, and honor, and praise to our God. How we forget who He is and who we are in comparison to Him. How we have taken on the role of creator (or tried to) and have fallen miserably short. This book is about coming to see God, an accurate picture of God. It's about praising Him. It's about coming to a love for Him that will move you to action. It's not just about loving God, it's about being IN LOVE WITH GOD! (There is a difference.) And Francis Chan challenges you to take a look at yourself to see what it is that you're expecting out of your relationship with the Almighty, Creator God. Are you only looking for the blessings He has the potential to bestow upon you? Do you realize that none of this is about YOU but it's all about HIM?I have to say, I NEVER highlight in fiction books. I rarely highlight in non-fiction books. I do, however, highlight all throughout my Bible (personal preference and decision of mine), but I also have to say that I highlighted all throughout this book, as well. Of course that was somewhat easier and less messy because of it being a kindle version. Yet, highlighting wasn't enough. I found myself copying sections of this book into a notebook because they were powerful, they moved me, and they made me take a hard look at myself. Am I lukewarm? All who are godly in Christ will suffer persecution--where is my persecution? Will I follow if God calls me to do something radical with my life? And do I have a love for Him that is passionate and evident to those around me because I just can't contain it?I appreciate the amount of Scripture used in this book. Also, there are at least two videos that he requests you go to the website and watch. I wasn't able to do it at the exact moment I came to those passages in the book, but I did make time to go back and watch them later, and I am really glad that I did. I highly suggest that you incorporate those videos into your process through the book.Francis Chan left me with a lot to think about, but he challenged me not to stop there. He challenged me to move myself into action. If you need a good kick in the butt, a refresher on what it means to love a Holy God, or you just want to see what all the talk is about, I suggest you check out this book. It will always be my reminder to you on any post I do of a book that has any religious subject that you check out what the Creator has to say for Himself. The Bible is and always will be the Source of all information that we have about our God. It is the Living-Word and sharper than any two-edged sword. It is a love story from the beginning to the end. And Francis Chan reminded me of that. My Abba Father has an a crazy, radical love for me. And I'm just as giddy as a school girl when I stop and think about it.

It is a good book, well written
From all the reviews I had expected a gripping read. It is a good book, well written, the message clear but more of a light salad than meet and potatoes. Doesn't match up to an Abba Father or an Irresistible Revolution, I would say read those first

READ IT!
Great book, well written, easy to read, suitable for those that don't read much, and those that devour books. Francis Chan's tone throughout the book manages to remain light whilst also with authority and with a great use of scripture to back up each point. Challenging in a good way, highly highly recommend reading it, even if you come away from it having taken one useful thing on board, it will be worth it!

Provoking to action in response to His amazing love.
Challenging book to be more out-there for Jesus...in the loveliest of ways. inspired by people who have done wonderfully brave things for Him; Francis Chan among them (did I get the name right this time?).
