Great book overall if you love the Mafia topic. It is more up to date that some of the later writings. It does start out confusing but after you get going, it does come out well. It is another glance of organized crime and how it works.

Interesting work of fiction by Mr. Calco / Milano. I must say that I really enjoyed the book, but that is probably because I was the prosecutor in Flagler County who put him away for 10 more years. I hope Joey does not really believe what he has written, because it does not bear a resemblance to the actual incident at the Flagler County Goomba's Pizza Place. The real story is actually much more humorous and entertaining, but of course it would not show Joey in such a favorable light.He was very correct in that he really threw away paradise - he had it all and screwed it up with some dumb behavior. Too bad, as Joey was one of the more likeable guys I have prosecuted.Anyways, thank you for putting pen to paper -- you have to admire the guy for saying his piece and not wasting his time in the lock up. Most waste their time doing nothing when they could do something positive, like Mr. Calco / Milano here. Salut!

Where to begin with how disappointing this book was. I bought this book based on what I read about The Bath Ave Crew on Cosa Nostra News. The story was intriguing as that article was my introduction to this crew specifically. I thought this would be in the vein of Five Families where the times and crimes were related in fascinating detail. Not the case with Anthony's Boy (apparently in Calco's words followed by different text by author Richard Stanley Cagan). Calco sounds like he spent nine years in prison and never took a writing class which is former is true. The text is so hard to follow with all the run on sentences and words and phrases misspelled and added wrong in the sentence. Why would an author put his name on a book and let the book be released without editing or proofreading this moran's spelling. The so called chapters are filled with neighborhood bravado and events that have been covered in just about every other book about organized crime. He's basically retelling stories he heard from other people. The majority of his claims are faulty at best. I can't beleive I spent sixteen dollars on his. I'll wait for Jimmy Calandra's book to come out.

This is definitely an interesting story, but the English used to write it is not very well. I see a lot of reviews talking about how horrible it is, and while the book is riddled with run on sentences, one must keep in mind that it is written by an immigrant from Italy whom did not speak English as his first language. The story is interesting and the book is in a strange format where the pages are made up with mostly Joey Calco's own notes. The English is not a reflection of the author, for he merely just assembled all the journal entries together. I am enthralled with the organized crime stories and enjoy reading any and all New York Mafia related books. This was an interesting take on a story that most probably have never heard. The real names of people are used in this book and it really gives the reader an authentic experience. The La Cosa Nostra culture is addicting (especially from the outside looking in) and this was yet another example of a life wasted to organized crime. The book is at sometimes difficult to read & Joey Calco seems to be full of himself. It's almost as if he justifies his action on the paper and tries to prove to the reader that what he did was okay.Regardless, It was an interesting read and I would suggest it. However, beware of the run-on sentences and self satisfying banter.

I was hoping this book would go more in depth about the relationship with Anthony Spero. He is a very unique character and deserves his own bio in my opinion. This didn't really do that. You can get more from the Tommy Karate book or one of the three or four books on Big Joey. Calco's brutality put him in contact with some real legends on the street. THAT should have been the story.Just my $.02. If you find it cheap, its worth the read. Otherwise...meh.

Idiotic, and like most idiotic mob books containing hundreds of lies, the author ludicrously states that "his" family was the biggest. However, there were a few minor tidbits I gleaned to fill in a few factual cracks in the sidewalk. It must have taken the author two hours to write, and me one to read, but I had very low expectations and got what I wanted.

Poorly written book. Many sentences had to be read twice to understand what l just read. I know now why the book costs $3.99. I have read more than ten books about the "Mafia".They were interesting and captivating. It was hard to put these books down. I forced myself to finish this book.

I have read close to 100 mafia books and this one without question was the worst I have read so far and my hope is that nothing in the future comes close to this one. I gave it one star which is still over rating it but you have to click on at least one of them. There is no rhyme or reason to any of the chapters to this book. Calco apparently gave himself the title of "Prince of Bath Avenue" and makes claims of knowing all the bosses of the Families however never mentions any meetings with any of them. He calls himself a hitman but if his stories are true he screwed up more hits than he ever successfully carried out. Most chapters and just filler that seem to be just taken off scraps of paper and put together in no particular order or sense of order. My copy of this book was put in the paper recycle in hopes that I will have at least spared one person the agony of having to endure turning a page.DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. If you are fan of mafia or true crime I would suggest Murder Machine, The Butcher Anatomy of a Mafia Psychopath, or Five Families.

Really good read

Well, quite weird reading this ,to me it seemed all over the place ,couldn't understand the jargin for one thing , ifyou read a lot of true crime you could do better than this book much better joy page England

Dreadful book. Badly written by a mafia non entity.Short on detail and long on non- coherent ramblings.
