Eggsceedingly simple
What could be simpler than boiling an egg? Well, not heating up a pan of water which you're then going to pour away would be a start, and that's essentially what this egg steamer is about. There is an initial hump in the learning curve, but once over that it really is pretty simple - put an appropriate volume of water in the base, put the egg(s) on the tray, fit the lid and turn on. Some time later the pilot light will go out and the eggs are done. The type of 'done', hard or soft boiled, is controlled by the amount of water in the bast. Unintuitively, more eggs need less water! There is a measuring beaker which simplifies that so it's not like one has to weigh stuff and study charts. I have no idea how the steamer knows why the eggs are done as desired, but it gets it right. My first attempt at soft-boiled produced a pair of eggs needing a couple of second standing in the egg cup to be just right. The steamer also deals with poached eggs and omelettes, but not quite as successfully. Omelettes just aren't 'proper' unless they have an almost-burnt base, so pure steamed ones lack in that regard. They could almost be scrambled eggs, except that scrambled eggs should be lots of fluffy bits rather than one homogeneous lump.Poached eggs are, er, interesting. For these, the provided dish is used and up to three eggs can be poached at once. However, they are all in the same dish so aren't separate, and the result is a perfectly poached disc of egg. Great if you're going to put it on, say, a burger but, if you're sharing, then half a disc on a plate doesn't look quite right. Tastes fine though!Good things:Does a massive number of eggs at a time with barely any water. Not stopwatch or clock needed.Near-perfect results every time.Manual is in real English (American, I think - 'approx 177.44ml' is 6 fl oz).Star-dropping issues:Markings on measuring beaker are hard to see, and unintuitive.Supposedly steams rice but I couldn't get my rice to notice.Pilot light can go out after a few seconds - no mention of this in the manual, and it doesn't indicate the eggs are done! The light comes back on after a minute or so and then acts as expected.

Dangerous
It's very easy to forget it is working. No chime, no other sound. One time I left it for a half a day heating. It is dangerous! Got rid of it.
