Enermax PWM Series T.B. Silence Ultra Quiet Twister Bearing (120mm) Cooling Fan
My twelve year old pc-case used a very noisy 80 mm front-mounted fan to pull air into the case. The power-supply fan was also noisy, so I decided to cut a 120 mm hole in the front of the case and another in the front cover. Removing the material completely, (opposed to drilling a lot of small holes) was to cut down on the resistance that causes a lot of fan noise. I installed the fan with a silicon gasket (see other reviews) and a very open wire grill, and used rubber washers with the mounting screws. I also cut a 120 mm hole in the front case cover, and glued a high-flow grill behind it. Now my custom system no longer sounds like a Hoover vacuum when I start it up. Instead, it is whisper quiet, much to my wife's relief! The bat-wing blade design of this Enermax PWM 120 mm fan also makes it more efficient and quieter than standard blades. To wrap this up: the Enermax 120 mm PWM twister-bearing fan is very quiet, as advertised. A noisy pc can be silenced, but just changing one fan isn't the whole solution:1- I installed sound-proofing material on the large side-panels of the case2- I decreased the air-flow restrictions through the case (120 mm size holes with low-restriction wire grills)3- I installed a Seasonic Bronze 80 Plus 600 watt power supply with better fan control.4- I used silicone gaskets when mounting the Enermax fan and the Seasonic power supply, to isolated the mechanical vibrations5- I installed an ASUS GT 640 Silent video card (BIG passive heat-sink instead of two 60 mm fans)6- I installed a large Arctic Cooler 13 heat-sink on the cpu. This too, has a large (90 mm) quiet fan.So, the answer to a noisy pc case-fan is a larger quieter fan (Enermax PWM 120 mm). The better solution is to house your system in a case designed for air-flow and silence. Since I prefer to do things my way, I modified a very strong old pc-case to my design and am very satisfied with the outcome. An added benefit: one less piece of computer equipment in the land-fill!

Great price, great fan
I bought this for replacing a case fan going out in my HTPC system. Being in the living room it was very important to me that it was extremely quiet. My other 2 case fans are silent. When I first got this I didnt know what to expect, I kept reading about the built in speed controller, I am guessing that is actually part of the 4 pin connector? because there was no obvious way to control the speed. I hooked this up to a power lead not currently in use from my power supply via the supplied connector, put it all back together and it was literally all I could hear in my living room. It was obnoxiously loud and distracting. However I got back into the case and ran this into the motherboard (which does have 4 pin connectors) and now my other 2 fans (seemed silent before) are the part that I hear. THis fan is so crazy quiet that I put my head right by the case and through the fan I could hear my hard drive turning but not this fan AT ALL!Great price, great fan, and after all this time finally someone makes one that the blades can be removed for cleaning. All around a great product and I would recommend it. Just remember that no matter what fan you buy, if it is pushing high CFM's you are going to hear the air moving through it. Which is what I was hearing when it was hooked up to my PSU.

Extremely quiet fans with great airflow
I bought an inexpensive TV cabinet to install my XBOX One, cable router, WD storage array, and other related electronic devices in so that I could clean up the wiring clutter and make things look a little nicer in the living room. Even if the front and back of a shelf is open, heat can build up around sensitive electronic equipment and raise the ambient temperature in the shelf to over 85 degrees. To make sure my equipment doesn't overheat in the shelves I installed them in, I cut holes in the back of the cabinet and installed two of these fans. I purchased a cheap 12VDC switching supply to power them with so that they run 24x7. I chose these fans because they had the airflow I calculated would be needed and were among the quietest fans available. They are very thin and rigid, and even included the mounting hardware needed to attach them to the TV stand. The ambient temperature in the shelves now stays just a few degrees higher than the temperature in the room which is exactly what I needed to avoid potential premature failure of my entertainment electronics. The fans are so quiet that they cannot be heard even when everything is turned off and I sit in the room for a few minutes getting used to the silence. These fans were exactly what I needed, the new TV cabinet looks great, and my living room looks so much better without all the cables, wires, boxes, and power strips laying on the floor.
