If Einstein wrote Garfield
I never write book reviews, and I've been an avid reader since age 5. This story made me want to write one. This book is worth the time and energy needed to finish it, even if time is an illusion and solely a human concept created to deal with the unmistakably bleak and dreary reality that is the human experience. It's is witty and sardonic. It's seriously silly and stupidly serious. But somehow it's incredibly smart, genius-level writing while still feeling heartfelt and brutally honest in regards to how people interact with each other.Even if most of the characters are ( relatively speaking of course) gods and deities and cats. Of course.I found this book after laughing and crying over Exerb1a YouTube videos, and I seriously recommend this book. As they say in Canada, Peace Oout!

Not what I expected.
I was expecting dick jokes, dark humor and, the like. And now, here I am writing this, cursing myself, for ever having decided to read this.Wish I had a way with words, so as to describe how good of a book this is but, sadly, I don't. So, all I can do is give it the best rating as I possibly can.

Not for reluctant insomniacs
I discovered this author on YouTube, in the wee hours of the morning, struggling with insomnia as I usually do. He touched me with "Sleep is just Death being Shy" so I thought I would give this book a whirl. It's not deep. It reads like a television script, which isn't always a bad thing. It focuses on longing and loss and faithlessness, the very things that keep me up at night, and yet somehow reading about them, understanding that I am suffering from the same pain so many of us struggle with, this is comforting to me. I wanted something to help me fall asleep to, and this was doing its job. It well hooked me, too, which makes it better than 9 out of 10 works of fiction I pick up.About 3 am a few nights ago, my second "night" of reading" I was drifting off (Yes! Doing its job!) when this charming little story turned into a Stephen King novel, part Mist, part Under the Dome. I startled fully awake and my heart started pounding. I didn't sleep at all that night. Not so very scary as King (at all really), but it blindsided me at 3 am. I put it down since then. I will finish it, but not when trying to sleep. I'm only about a third of the way through. If/when I finish it, I will update my review.

Funny but unfocused
The book has a good core to it but some of the side plots seem to wander and fizzle out (the mannequins, the undertakers). Some relationships aren't given enough substance to provide much emotional impact during the climactic scenes.Regardless, it was an enjoyable read!

Holy Hell.
Holy hell is 100% the best and only way to describe this. Absolutely incredible. The man who wrote this is either incredibly insane or incredibly genius and I'm thinking it's a perfect mix of both.

Fantastic read
This book spoke to me on a fundamental level. Let’s start with style. Compared to “The Bridge to Lucy Dunne” I thought this book was far superior. I liked how the chapters blinked between viewpoints of different characters while retaining the same story. It holds the feel of many short stories, while boasting a much larger overarching connection.I’m a huge fan of Exurb1a because philosophy is a massive interest in my life, while science also holds me captive. This book is a perfect merger of the two. A bit of fantastical glue is used to hold the two together, but it helps to tell a beautiful story of lovers, deities, optimism, pessimism, nature, religion, and the human condition. I plan to read more material like this, but I’m afraid nothing will quite quench my thirst like “The Prince of Milk.”

Wonderful book. Wonderful ideas. Wonderful journey.
I may be a bit biased, as I was a big fan of the authors YouTube channel first, but I from the bottom of my heart, I loved this book.Much like his videos, this book found a way to speak to feelings I've had about life, the universe, and everything, in ways very few other creative works have. Something about the flippant sarcasm used to describe the pointlessness of life, mixed with scientific theory, built on top of a subtext of a very simple, but comforting message (Life is big, and scary, and pointless, and confusing, and you'll never quite understand it all anyways, so if you're confused, and lost, and scared, it's cool. we all are, why not have some tea and have a laugh at it all?) Is endlessly soothing, and inspiring to me.All of this woven through interesting, lovable characters, and fascinating ideas. Not to mention presenting one of the most interesting theories on the origins and methods of perpetuation of consciousness that I've ever heard.Maybe the first couple chapters were a bit confusing because of the rapid jumping of narratives, but each thread was interesting enough to keep me reading, and the way in which all the narratives tied together, and how the effected eachother, was well worth a little confusion. It felt like it was a necessary party of the journey the author was taking me on.This book, and his other creative works, mean a lot to me, and I'm thankful that they exsist.Well worth the read, give it a try, then read his other books and check out his videos.Thank you for all the wonderful thoughts and words, Exurb1a.

Simply amazing
This is a simply amazing book. I wouldn’t know any other words to describe it. And I probably couldn’t. So I’ll tell my storyI found Ex’s YouTube channel a while ago, I loved his humour, his ideas and his editing style. He was my favourite creator. But I saw him as nothing more. A clever amazing man, but a YouTuber. It’s sort of a negitive term for a creater. An artist on that google site. And the stigma surrounding that term stayed with me. Have to say.The first time I started to see that cracks in this idea was his short story “The lantern” It was amazing. Simply, watch it if you haven’t, and I wanted to see more, and his new videos, satisfied that itch, for a while. But I need more. After another session of binge watching ex I saw the prince of milk. It seemed interesting. It was.I fell for this book. Like nothing before. Not dune, LOTR, JAM or any other monolith/cult classic of a book. It shows his true potential. Read this if you read anything. Please

well emm idk what to say, it’s quite something
well i can even ignore the fact this book was written by a YouTuber and say it is quite frankly astounding. even down to the writing style and story telling no better seen from some of the true greats in history this book has it all. of course this is coming from a massive fan of his videos but in reading this i have discovered so much more about this incredible man’s explicably massive brain and have enjoyed the experience through the artistic manner he delivers it. one thing i thought would be difficult to get through is the huge range of characters yet by the end of the book, (when you see the importance of each of them individually) i felt a strong individual connection to all of them, but personally Eric Crane has to be my favourite. finally, i would recommend this book to anyone who is curious as to what the bigger picture of our life’s could be because this book delivers a chillingly potentially accurate prediction as to what is going to happen to us humans. please buy this and also support the author on his patreon cos he deserves it. enjoy.

Most moving thing I’ve ever read, seen or comprehended
I’ve never really written a review for anything Ive ever bought. Never really felt the need to. But this book. I found exurb1a’s YouTube channel a week ago and I’ve been bingeing through all the videos ever since. Instantly bought the book. Thought I’d read it over the course of a month ended up being glued to it and finished it in 2 days. I’m never parting with it, and will read it again and again. Truly a remarkable piece of work and a brilliant mind, I can’t give it enough praise. I feel moved and touched, and now I’ll probably still sit and do nothing with this motivation as I always have and hate myself more for it. Even more so now I feel Exurb1a has opened my eyes.

A little disappointing
I'm a fan of Exurb1a's Youtube content so I thought I would enjoy his writing too. It isn't terrible at all, it is slightly disappointing though. So many characters divided into short chapters makes character development pretty shallow. Whilst the narrative and plot are very interesting, the writing style in which they are delivered is not. With such grand scientific and philosophical concepts at play in the story, it is a pity the writing does little to evoke equally grand imagery.I don't want to be too brutal as it isn't bad. But if I am being honest, I did expect more from him and his work. Entire sagas could be written on a great number of the concepts at play in the story and they feel in stark contrast to the humdrum "kitchen sink dramas" unfolding in the little English Village. I'm sure this was intended to some extent but it makes the humanist aspect to the story feel a little bit crowbarred in.If you're a fan of Exurb1a like I am, give it a shot, you may feel differently from me. If you aren't already a fan of his work, perhaps look him up on youtube first.

A thought provoking read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. The nihilism, the science, the entertaining lines describing life and meaning. Also cats.Very well written, subtleties paying off, and of course an ending that made it all worth it.If you liked this book, you should check out exurb1a's YouTube channel, which I also enjoy.
