If like me you have to read the entire DSM-5 manual
If like me you have to read the entire DSM-5 manual, do yourself a favor and buy this as the main read and use the DSM-5 as a complimentary reference, you won't regret it. The writing is engaging (unlike the dry DSM-5), succinct, with real life examples which give a sense to the material ... This was a "recommended" reading in my pcychopathology class ... I'm so glad I followed the "recommendation" ... I like his reading style so much, and I find it so helpful that I am buying one of his other books "Diagnosis made easier" ....This should definitely help me this semester.

I wouldn't recommend it for examination preparation
I wouldn't recommend it for examination preparation. The author cites criteria that the DSM 5 does not use. For example, for "Borderline Intellectual Functioning", it says IQ range of 71-84, but the DSM 5 does not use IQ as criteria for diagnosis.

Misprinted/Upside Down Pages
So initially this bok looked to be in great condition, the spine was intact, the dust jacket wasn't torn, then I started reading. One page seems to have been misprinted and the page was folded over so I am missing some text. And at the back of the book, a chunk of pages are upside down and out of order. I am very disappointed.

Content is Fantastic, Quality of Binding is Horrible
Content of the book is great to understand DSM but for the price the quality of the actual book is terrible. Binding fell apart within a week and sections of the book came out. This is a cheap copy. I did not get what I paid for.

Yes and no
The most helpful part of this book was the case studies for every single disorder. Other than that, it really doesn't offer any information that the DSM doesn't. But if case studies help you, totally worth the buy.

I am comfortable with my decision because these books are highly recommended ...
I'm a new MSW student. The DSM-5 is widely utilized in clinical therapy, which I intend to practice in the future. I bought this book along with the social worker's dictionary to augment my studies and research while preparing for exams and studies at college. I am comfortable with my decision because these books are highly recommended for use in the field.

Great reference material
This is a difficult subject with all the possible ways to code diagnoses, however this book does an excellent job explaining each. Great reference, however still a very complex subject

Great addition to DSM -5 literature
I shared this book with LCSW supervisees and they really appreciated the clinical case studies.

Base of DSM-V
I used to use this book some years ago. It gives you insight into DSM-V. I recommend for those who learns DSM-V and/or psychiatric classification.

Not Happy, Jan.
Book arrived in terrible condition. Doused in something (petrol maybe). Consequently I can’t breath when I open the book. I’m going to have to toss it in the trash. I bought a used copy but this book was not fit to be resold. Rather disappointed with this bookseller. The book itself is brilliant though. Morrison’s work is excellent

preferred the DSM
This was a required text for a course, I would have preferred just reading the DSM as it's just as easy to read. The book didn't necessarily make the DSM any easier or more digestible

I really enjoy the patient case stories that accompany each diagnosis
Incredible. I really enjoy the patient case stories that accompany each diagnosis. The author then goes through a detailed analysis of the case and why it was diagnosed as it was. As med student interested in psych, I enjoy this book for exam studying but also just to read.

Amazing book for psychiatry trainees
As a psychiatry resident starting my first year of training, my biggest fear of the DSM-5 was the complicated and difficult-to-memorize diagnostic criteria. However, this book has managed to take those complicated criteria and put them into easily understood orders to make the studies of psychiatric conditions seem so much more manageable. Have read the first couple of chapters and cannot wait to finish the book and use the knowledge to help patients. Great book! Would definitely recommend to all my colleagues and other psychiatry trainees!
