Very nice piece.
Quality brass, with nice engraving. A device that hearkens back to an ancient time.Was delivered very quickly, and seller also added a nice keychain with an interesting trinket.

This is a decoration only; not a functional astrolabe.
While beautiful in appearance, this device is non-functional. Its instructions read: "1. Locate the star Polaris at night. 2. Sight the star through the straw (there is no straw included.) 3. Note what degree the string lines up to on the protractor (degrees are marked with extremely small lettering.)As a decoration, this is wonderful. It is made of brass, and is solid and well designed. However, the description suggests that it is functional and can be used to sight stars and determine angles. It cannot.

cheap display piece not functional in anyway. printed instructions on case are for a home made astrolabe you .ake in science class copied and pasted from the internet. its a cheap display piece not even fit for instructional use.
