Great sugar free recipes!
Brenda Bennett is a master at making carb and sugar laden recipes lower in carbs an even sugar free. There are a huge variety of recipes in the book. Main course, side dish, and desserts. And I do love the mug cakes and the ice cream!

Sugar-free title is misleading, but a decent cookbook
The biggest problem with this book is Brenda Bennett's mis-representation and use of the word "natural" for many processed ingredients that are included in her recipes. Coconut sugar, for example, is not natural. Erythritol is not. Xanthan gum is not. Brown rice syrup is not. Even powdered stevia is not natural. Natural foods can be seen and eaten as they actually exist in nature, like an apple. The substances used and recommended by Bennett have either been treated, reduced or created by humans. It follows that Bennett's introductory comments about sugars, other caloric sweeteners, sugar alcohols and flours are incomplete and well, a bit mom-ish. Better, by far, to skim through her food addiction story and the rest of her commentary, and go straight to the cookbook. This is where Bennett shines. The 194 recipes are smartly organized, beautifully photographed and yummy-looking. Many are familiar comfort food recipes that a whole family can enjoy. Some are completely sugar-free and some have the processed substances listed above. Bennett's very keen on erythritol and stevia as the preferred sweetening agent. Her other fave ingredients include potatoes, gluten-free flour, legumes and all things coconut (the new darling ingredient of Paleo people). If Bennett had titled her book as a low-sugar option for families using the least objectionable sweetening agents, I would have felt less mislead. Purists who are looking for recipes without any caloric sweeteners, powdery flours and/or foods that have a naturally high sugar content should pass on this book.

Great Cookbook
First of all, I am not a Cookbook person.  I usually do my own thing, and in the past, when I tried to look up different recipes,  I don't usually follow the recipe.  As a Registered Nurse and a Certified Health Coach, I am very health conscious, and truly believe healthy eating is a major part of our health.  With that said, I purchased this book, and I love it!!  It gives a healthier alternative to cooking , it's educational, and  every page/recipe begins with an informative introduction.  It is so easy to follow, each recipe is labeled whether it is Low-Carb, Natural-Sugar, Sugar-free, or Dairy-Free.  I love the Nutritional Information for each recipe, the pictures are great, and I have been recommending this book to my colleagues and patients / clients.  It's apparent that Brenda Bennett put a lot of work into this Cookbook.  It's more than just a Sugar-Free cookbook......... I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a well-rounded healthy Cookbook..... everything in one book..... it contains  breakfast foods, main dishes, salads, side dishes, bite foods, condiments, beverages, and of course sweet treats (my favorites:)  Enoy!!

first review I've ever written
I have had this cookbook for a few years and I often think that I should write a review and today is the day! I am 49 years old and this is the BEST cookbook I've ever bought. I bought it because I wanted to go sugar free, but what it doesn't say in the title of the book is that most (if not all) the recipes are also gluten free! We recently realized our daughter has a gluten sensitivity, so my already favorite cook book got even more valuable to us! Also, I emailed Brenda one time about a recipe, and she sent me a lovely response. I wanted to find a way to say thank you to Brenda, and writing this review was my way of doing so. Thank you Brenda!! Buy this cookbook... you will not regret it!

I can't say enough good things about the Coffee Cake
I made the Coffee Cake and Crustless Spinach Bacon Quiche for Christmas as I got the book as an early present. I can't say enough good things about the Coffee Cake. You would never know that it used "fake" sugar and it was delicious. The finished product for the Quiche recipe seemed a bit off, not enough egg ( I added the 2 whole eggs and 2 yolks) and too much spinach (I added slightly less than 2 cups of drained frozen spinach). Also, I omitted the bacon as I felt that 6 slices for the Quiche was too much bacon. I would also decrease the salt in the recipe, even without the bacon the Quiche seemed salty. I will tweak this recipe for my tastes, but I thought the final product was not what I expected.

Not what I expected
The book begins explaining other sweeteners which can be used instead of raw sugar but after reading some recipes they were just not for me. The photographs of the food didn’t make me feel like I must make that.Just because this was not for me I am sure a lot of people will make good use of this book.
