This is an excellent book but you need to be aware of the format before purchasing. If you aren't aware of how good a player Brent Mason is then a quick look on YouTube will tell you all you need to know. He's far more interesting a player than any boring shredder and certainly is full of good ideas. Even if you don't consider yourself a fan of country music, the jazz section is very good and in any case, many of the ideas and techniques here can be applied to rock, blues and even pop music.What you get is a small book with 60 or so exercises that have been transcribed from the instructional videos that you download or watch online if you prefer. Do not expect a note for note demo from Brent because he's more or less just doing these lessons off the cuff. He certainly has not prepared anything before hand. None of that matters but you'll need to do more work using this as a source material.For me I don't want to learn everything note for note I'm more interested in finding passages that appeal to me and learning about the harmonies being used so as I can improvise better. There's plenty of that in here.Recommended.
