Loved it
I love the fact that John tells his story about his early beginning in his psychic abilities and how he developed his gift. He is a very caring person and always wanting to learn more from the oher side. I have followed him for years and so glad he wrote this book.

Well written and intriguing
I've first heard of John Edward after a female psychic told me to watch his show. She had just given me an online reading where my best friend who crossed over came through loud and clear. I started watching his show and was very impressed, although I'm sure the shows are edited to show John's best moments. Instead of being a weird, spiritual person I associated with psychics, John Edward seems like "the guy next door." His writing has the essence of his down to earth style. He doesn't try to force the readers to believe, but just relays his experiences with the other side. John does mention that his work is more art than science, proof is in the form of acknowledgments from his clients. What is amazing about John Edward is that he doesn't give generalities but specific, unobvious information told to him by the deceased, which is often confired by the living relatives. In this book, John talks about specific cases he worked on that really affected him on a personal level. It was fascinating to read how small, seemingly trivial actions done by those on earth seemed to have been influenced by those who have crossed over. John admits he doesn't know much about the other side, but gives his insights, which are very much in line with near-death experience accounts, especially the importance of the love we shown here on earth, and that earth is like a "school" for our spiritual beings. From reading of this book, I realize that when we cross over ourselves, the only luggage we bring is our life experiences, feelings, actions and decisions we made and how they affected others. And with that luggage, we have a life-review where we judge ourselves on how we did. John wanted to convey in this book is how love can transcends all obstacles, even death. How are you doing in this great test called life? Great reading and highly recommeded.

Spiritually Uplifting
I have to admit that I watched his show, Crossing Over, only once. It was strange, watching a psychic pick people out of a crowd. The show left me wondering how he kept himself focused and how he managed to single out one person at a time. That one episode intrigued me enough to buy the book, and I was glad that I did. He comes across as down to earth in his book as he does on his show. That makes the book very easy to read and understand. One Last Time touches everything about his life--his relationship with his family, his healthy skepticism about talking to people from the Other Side, his career in the medical field, his religious faith, and the cases he has experienced. I almost felt like I was there as I was reading the pages, he writes so well.I was especially touched by Andrew and Mikey, who both died in accidents. Their cases resonated with love and caring for their families. I felt empathy for Mr. Edward when he worried about how his mediumship would affect his standing in the Catholic faith. What impressed me the most about One Last Time was that it wasn't filled with the typical "harps, chariots, and beyond-beautiful" picture of the Other Side like I've read in other celebrity psychic books. He talks about the Other Side as being an infinite place that is full of love and a place where souls can evolve. He explains what happens to people who commit suicide. Being a survivor, that was especially comforting. At the end, he tells us how we can tap into our own spiritual awareness.I highly recommend this book for anyone who has an interest in spirituality and anyone who has lost someone close to them. One Last Time is a message of hope.

Great book!!!!
This book touches on various subjects including an autobiographical account of John Edward's life and how he came to become a medium. It also has him telling the reader what he sees during a reading and how he interprets it and how he can make mistakes. For me this was the most interesting part of the book, it reminded me of reading how a writer got an idea for a book. He also recounts several stories of people who he did readings for that made a permanent impression on him for various reasons. The book is very easy to read, I read the entire book in two days. It is almost like he is in front of you talking to you. He doesn't come across as arrogant, in fact he acknowledges that he has a gift, and seems warm and sincere. He even tells you how to separate a good psychic from a fraud. If you have any interest in the subject of the afterlife, psychic ability, or just an interest in John Edward, this is worth reading. In the last chapter there is a meditation exercize, which in the beginning is similar to the guided fantasy relaxation we used to do in theater, but then goes further. I haven't tried it yet, but even if it makes you relaxed, it is worth the time.

One Last Time
There are not many books that I find it hard to put down but this was one of them. John Edward's style of writing is engaging and humourous. The accounts of his readings of clients often left me with a mixture of feelings: sadness for the losses which the people had suffered often in tragic circumstances, but also amazement at the amount of factual evidence of survival which came through and the inventiveness of the spirit energies in making their connections. John gives a straight forward description and explanation of his experience of the process and how he understands it.I know there will be some who will doubt the validity of what they are reading and I guess ultimately we all need our own personal experience for our own proof. Mine came some years back when I attended a Spiritualist Church. Some people were picking up on a spirit boy's presence. The next moment I saw him with my physical eye on the far side of the room as clearly as I could see anyone else. The next minute he appeared right in front of me. This experience not only proved survival to me but it also proved the validity of mediumship. However, it also demonstrated that communication with those in the Spirit World is not easy for them or for us.Paul McGlone
