Caillou: The Day I Met Gilbert (Touch and Feel series) Board book – Download: Adobe Reader, October 1, 2009

As I researched Caillou board books for purchase, I realized that the cover art was quite different from that of the Caillou television show. After reading through a few of the reviews for some of those various books, it seemed as if that art was the accepted norm on the INSIDE of those books as well. I know most children won't care what Caillou looks like, but personally speaking, I just preferred a TV-accurate depiction of Caillou.Well I can happily report to other OCD Caillou supporters that this book has art that is as close as it gets to the TV show. You never see his parents in the book (other than an arm extended from off panel), but everything else from the show is well represented. Gilbert looks like Gilbert. Ditto for Caillou. And of course, the funky and vivid colors the cartoon is well known for jumps out on every page.Other pros are that there are 9 different touch and feel patches throughout the book (including the cover). Also, I love how the pages are not as thick as typical board books. They are closer to the paperback end of the spectrum but still extremely durable and able to withstand tears, rips, and abuse. Finally, I liked the "Follow The Mouse" feature which is a little mouse hidden every 2 pages. Toddlers will have fun trying to find the mouse the first few reads. It's not a major thing but just something that adds to the value a bit.There are no cons to me, but if I were forced to pick something "negative", I would say that the story seems just a teeny bit disjointed. But of course, that is what happens when you only have 13 pages to work with. Also, the dog at the pet store is drawn with ears that look almost like they belong on a cat. But really, that's super nitpicking.Great purchase. I'm very surprised there aren't more TnF Caillou books available though.

My 2yo son really enjoys the book. It's well constructed and the materials for the feeling sections have made it several months so far and look brand new.

This is my child's favorite book and it is fun to read and touch. The pages are sturdy and have held up to a lot of use by an active toddler.

I purchased this book brand new but all of the pages inside the book are warped...very disappointed in this product.

Adorable little book but arrived in terrible condition with corners exposed and obviously used, although I had ordered it new.

Je suis vraiment déçue de ce livre. J'ai acheté ce livre à l'état neuf, mais d'apparence, le livre semble usagé. De plus, dès la première lecture, les pages se décollent (pages collées en raison des appliqués de textures). Bref, quelle déception! Vraiment décevant!
