Common Ground: The Water, Earth, and Air We Share

Common Ground is the story that all our children (and their parents) need to hear and heed.Molly Bang is an author known to me through her books for children; I used them in my classroom for many years. Now I am retired and the Pres. of a new land trust that just happens to be named Common Ground. I bought several copies of this book as a gift to my board members and we gave one away as a door prize at a recent annual meeting.

This is a great book. It is simple and easy to understand and it really gives kids and adults an idea of what the Commons are for us today. The Commons are everything we depend upon and share and also that we all take care of. They are the land, the air, the water, animals, plants and more. I have read this book to my fourth grade class and it inspired some very thought provoking discussions. I highly recommend this book to parents and teachers.

I love this book. I read it to my environmental science class every year. It is basically a story book version of Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin. I really love this book.

I got this book for myself but it is now on my 2-year-old's bookshelf. It is a great story to spark discussion of saving the earth and uniting as one. I think it's wonderful and we read it often in our house. Great for any age, I think it is a good gift, too. Molly Bang is wonderful.

Great for kids to understand what common ground means

All of us need to be reminded of this daily.......We humans must pause, regroup and support Mother Nature and each other for our survival......A great book for kids and adults.....

Great book to teach about conservation of natural resources.

Only tells one side of the story and makes it sound as if we are doomed and humans are greedy and bad. Why not tell what humans HAVE accomplished as well, like soil conservation, regulation of farmers as to not overwork the ground, pollution control, etc. I do not recommend especially to little children. This is offensively shallow with an agenda in mind. I am throwing my copy away since it is too horrible to pass along. I don't want to damage any more little minds.
