Worked like a charm after figuring out some stuff
After I received the Ice Maker I opened the box expecting a knock-off, but was pleasantly surprised when I noticed it seemed genuine. The directions were from GE. It worked after I got it installed. Here are some things to help:1) I could never unscrew the screws that hold the old ice maker in place to allow it to be lifted and yet keep the screws in the holes. So I ended up removing the screws. They dropped into the empty ice form of the old ice maker. To reattach, I used a 1/2" (about) strip of duct tape, forced the screws threaded end through the sticky side of the tape and then stuck the tape to the screw driver I used to re-install the new ice maker since it's was hard for me to reach in the freezer.2) To remove the power plug, there are clips on both sides of the plug. the one on your left is easy to see. The one on your right is very difficult. Use a long blade slotted screwdriver and insert it between the bottom of the hook you can't see and the metal base. Then twist in a clockwise fashion and it should come unhooked.3) After you remove the old ice maker, there are 3 parts you may need from it: A) The fill cup, which directs the water from the water tube into the ice making tray. B) Ice maker insert which if you consider the fill cup on the back, the ice maker insert is on the right side. C) the ice stripper. It's the white plastic piece in the front of the ice maker. You may need to replace the one that came with your new ice maker with the old one. It's a slight pain to install the old one onto the new ice maker. On the left hand side, there is a groove. On the right hand side, there is a short plastic axle. The stripper goes onto the axle first just slightly. Align the stripper to the left hand groove. About an 1" from the left hand groove, there is a piece of brown plastic from the tray. The stripper has a white piece of plastic 1" from the left hand side too. Your job is to make sure the white plastic piece is pushed into the left of the brown piece of plastic while making sure the white plastic piece remains on the axle.4) For reinstall, place the ice maker back about where it belongs. I chose not to install the screws next, but instead inserted the power plug in place. Because of the way the cord is bent on the plug side, you may need to bend it in a different direction prior to putting ice maker where it belong so you can plug the power in.5) As I mentioned above, rip off a 1/2" piece of duct tape and insert the screw threads through the sticky side. Then use the sides of the duct tape and tape them onto the screwdriver making sure the philips/hex end is firmly attached to the screw. Then push the ice tray into place and align one hole with the bracket and screw the screw into the hole until tight. The pull the screwdriver away from the screw and tape. The tape can remain there. It won't hurt anything. Do that for the 2nd screw.6) Now you're done after you turn on the ice making unit.I hope this helps.

Great unit. Perfect replacement.
Couldn't be happier with it. This baby puts out the ice. My fridge was new in 2005. Model GE Profile™ PSS26SGRBSS ENERGY STAR® 25.5 Cu. Ft. Stainless Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Dispenser. The circuit board failed and I replaced with one from Amazon and wrote a review on that. It was a perfect replacement at great price. Same with ice maker. My original ice maker model (directly from the old ice maker) was 200D1181G013 WR30X10044 model CAN17. When the circuit board failed I was also dealing with a leaking ice maker. After much diagnosis I found it was leaking from the thermister cutout in the mold right which is right up against the white plastic housing of the unit. I jury rigged it with white DAP but after a few months it started leaking again but not as bad. I decided to replace it anyway since the teflon coating of the mold had deteriorated after 15+ years. If you research these ice makers you will find some "experts" say you will have to replace the unit every 5 years or so because the teflon coating eventually wears awary exposing the molds metal which then starts to etch away and even marks the ice with small metal specs—ugh! So I replaced it with this unit which is “almost” identical but not quite; neverthelesss, it is the correct replacement for my unit and works like a charm. Buying it from Amazon saved money also. Very, very pleased with all aspects of this purchase. This is a follow up 1 year after installation. This unit produces ice which is what it was designed to do. I love that it works so well. Like other reviews have written, this design does not work well at shutting off when the bin is full. So what, I still love it though it is a shame this aspect of the design is faulty.

It's working! Like It should
I bought this for my GE refrigerator. Model GSHS6KGZBCSS. The ice maker just up and quit on me after I think 13 years. I was still getting water at the door. Upon inspection I found that it wasn't getting water any longer at the ice maker. I decided to replace the much cheaper inlet valve ($20) first because a lot of troubleshooting I researched indicated those valves can fail. Well, that didn't fix it so I ordered this all new ice maker. I should mention that I saved a TON of money ordering both those parts on Amazon instead of from an "official GE Parts" style web site. This Ice Maker by all appearances looks like an OEM GE part. Installation is easy with one exception. The power cable is super stiff and positioning it and plugging it in is a bit of a bear. I had to plug it in before and kind of simultaneously to putting the ice maker into position for the one screw that holds it in place. They talk about making sure the ice maker is level but I don't see how I have any control over that. And the pressure that super stiff cable puts on it is gonna make any adjustment for level difficult at best, anyway. at any rate, it looks level enough and it is making ice. Be aware that it took an hour or more before it started working. I think the thermostat has to get a reading that it is cold enough before it will start to cycle and produce ice and call for water from the inlet valve, etc.....

We were very happy to find a replacement for our icemaker. Our refrigerator is only 7 years old and the extended warranty had just expired, so this was great.

Works great.
Working great. Just as good as the original ice maker. It was a tight fit for our GE side by side but after removing ice bucket, auger motor and side tracks it fit.

OEM GE Ice Maker Works Well
Writing reviews is not something I often do, this time, I feel it necessary. Please don't spend $100's or even near a thousand dollars on an appliance repair company to replace your ice maker when you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost with essential tools and 15 minutes of your time.Although it may be okay to purchase and install an aftermarket unit, OEM is better for the longevity of your appliance. Installation took 15 minutes. Our french door fridge with a freezer in the bottom half requires the door and all trays to be removed, including the ice tray and the deflector. The instructions are clear. If you prefer to watch a video, several are available on YouTube. Since this ice maker fits several models, your steps and additional tools to replace the unit may vary.Tools:-flat screwdriver-portable light-rachet setBasic Instructions:-turn off the power to the fridge-remove all trays-loosen both hex bolts securing the unit to the fridge (do not remove the screws!)-life ice maker and pull it towards you gently-unclip the pin connector-plug in new ice maker pin connector-install the new unit (make sure its level)-tighten hex bolt-re-install trays, doors etc.-turn the power onMy ice maker started within the hour. The next day, the tray was filled.I saved $500 by doing it myself; you can too!

Perfect replacement for non operational original icemaker
12 year old fridge and ice maker quit working. Tried all the usual you tube possible fixes, and came to conclusion that the ice maker needed replacement. Bought this one ( there appear to be several types under this part number ) and I matched up the pictures with what I have and bought it. Took about 15 minutes to remove the old one and take some stuff off the old one and put it on the new one. First time I installed I failed to make sure that the water filler tube on the fridge fed into the reservoir properly. Sprayed water all over the place. Totally my fault. I fixed that and it works like a charm. Original GE replacement part. Easy to remove old one and install new one
