Easy read
I really enjoyed reading this book! After reading some of the reviews I was a little nervous, but my experience was positive and it’s easy to make adjustments between 3-4 blocks. I think the recipe options are great and the food choices to keep in the zone are great!I also liked the sections that help you prep your kitchen to stay in the zone, very helpful! And shopping guidelines…real helpful!Don’t let the poor vs best options deter you from doing this. No one is 100% at dieting, it’s the fact that you are trying. This book helps educate you on keeping your blood sugar levels in check with proper ways to eat so you don’t get spikes or lows.I’m looking forward to making some food choice changes in my life!Overall this book helps you change your way of thinking about what you are putting into your body and being successful at doing it!

This one I never loan out, because I use it every day.
I've been eating the "zone" way for a couple of months now, and I love it-- I have a lot more energy, I'm not hungry, and I'm losing weight. (The number on the scale is decreasing *very slowly,* but I know that what I'm losing is all fat, because I look thinner and my clothes are looser for sure.)Anyway, I want to keep eating this way forever, but it's a whole different way of eating and it requires a whole new set of recipes. This book is the most useful of the Zone books (at least for me, right now) because I don't need to hear about the theory anymore, I just need help implementing it.And I could make up my own recipes or modify non-zone ones, but what a pain in the neck that would be! These recipes are already worked out-- for example, a way to make blueberry muffins that are zone-favorable. I never would have come up with that on my own.The appendices in the back are also really helpful for a beginner like me. I consult them every day. I've loaned out my other zone books to friends who were interested in trying it, but this one I never loan out, because I use it every day.

Should be "Zone Meals in 30 minutes (or so)"
What planet are they from? Jupiter, where seconds are hours long? These recipes take much longer than a few seconds. Some of them have upwards of 20 ingredients! I'd count on 30 minutes at least, starting from when you have everything out and on the counter with the lids off (smile). I've tried two and one was poorly spiced and the other was bland. That's just two, though in a few more "seconds", I can add my own spices. I like that it refers to the blocks because that's how I learned this system and other books don't always. When I stay in the Zone, I don't have any weight or energy problems. I started doing it in the 80's but got out of the habit, partly because allergies have me staying away from dairy and soy. I will try the lactose-free dairy products and see if I can still breathe. I will still avoid soy. There is a lot of sugar in some of these, just as there is in the bars and powdered drinks. Those affect my blood sugar levels negatively now and I'm starving an hour later and craving carbs. Fructose is the worst. I bought a bag of Splenda just to get me over the hump and back to normal insulin reactions. And it helps me to have a glass of psyllium husks in water when I eat fruit. Maybe he needs to write a "Seniors in the Zone" book.

Meals that you have time too cook
I purchased this book in paperback and have used it so much that I now have it in hardcover. Some of the recipes needed tweaking, but several of them are fine just as they are. Many of the recipes are made for convenience: they use canned vegggies, perdue short-cuts chicken, etc. If you cannot quite deal with using canned or frozen veggies, etc., this book would not be for you. I found that the recipes enhanced the ingredients with the spices, so I was actually able to make a "cassoulet" with canned carrots and enjoy it. Some of the recipes are not as fast as you might think, but overall, I have been happy to try to make fast and healthy meals with this book.

Reasonably fast and very delicious, but not in seconds
The title of this recipe book is somewhat misleading in that the meals will not take you mere seconds to make; however, with enough planning and some limited culinary skills you can whip up some delicious and very nutritious meals. The highlights of this book are: the introductory chapter explaining the purpose for and the background of the Zone Diet, the variety of meal types (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks), the taste and satiety of meals, and the relative easy in preparing meals. The directions for preparing meals are simple and almost always correct, and the result is an excellent tasting meal 9 times out of 10. The principles of this diet have become a lifestyle for our family because we both enjoy the meals and recognize the benefits of the meals in our everyday physical and mental performance. We like the book so much we purchased a copy for both of our parents and a sister.

A Lifestyle Change That’s Easy
They explain that maintaining or losing weight is all about insulin levels, show you how to tweak any meal to keep your insulin in the right zone (hence The Zone Diet), and tell you how to monitor your insulin levels just by paying attention to how your body feels after a meal. Lost almost 25 pounds without ever feeling hungry except for the first few days when I was adjusting to having to write down everything I ate and how it made me feel.

Extremely disappointing
Recipes are skewed to male portions. I do not buy a cookbook to have to rework recipes. Also, for the average senior citizen living alone and of limited means, there are way too many ingredients, including costly ones. I do not have enough room in my apartment to stock the kind of kitchen this book calls for. This is the first Zone book with which I have been disappointed. Waste of money.

Great book
Book is great! Recipes are a little time consuming but it is worth it. They taste wonderful! I have made the muffins and can eat them for breakfast and snacks and they are easy to make and easy to grab and go

Good and interesting recipes
Many interesting and new receipts to try and learn. It would be good to be more appealing to country specific parts of Europe but it is good enough to discover some new recipes.

Alles perfekt!!!
