Better than the premise
Initially, the premise seemed a little odd. The beginning also seemed to lock the book in a specific direction. However, rest assured, Daniel Suarez is a knowledgeable author who is good at building and carrying a story. If you are interest in sci-fi informed by current possibilities coupled with a good story, Daniel Suarez is a great choice. He actually knows things. What other authors understand vi vs. Emacs?

technological Count of Monte Cristo
Influx is a book for teenagers, that is ... for everyone. Everyone will find something for themselves. Comic outline characters clearly defines who is on the side of good, and who is on the side of evil. There are not many adults dilemmas, and if they are, it's exaggerated. However, this does not diminish the value of the book. Influx is a cool page-turner, with a surprising plot twist and a little too banal ending. The book reminds me of the technological Count of Monte Cristo.

A wonderfully innovative, compelling, and scarily plausible page turner
This was the last of Daniel Suarez' current books and I just finished reading them all. Influx was a wonderfully innovative, compelling, and plausible page turner. It's also scary as hell in a sociopolitical and technological sense. The characters are real, and Suarez makes you care/admire/loathe them. This is a wonderful read, my only complaint is that I've run out of his Influx books until the next one is published. Hmmm, think I'll start them over in chronological order...

Thought-provoking and fast paced thriller
Daniel Suarez has again penned a thought-provoking novel about how society will use or abuse new, game-changing technologies. A Prometheus Award winner, Mr. Suarez is one of the brightest tech minds writing today. In INFLUX, a secretive governmental agency harnesses disruptive new technologies by kidnapping the inventors and hiding their work. But, of course, the agency head has become demented, and the scientists are abused and need to escape. Like all of his other novels, the action is fast-paced and grounded in newly breaking technology. I highly recommend them all.

Great read
Great read. Love the premise that many of the revolutionary technologies we are looking forward to have in fact already been invented and are being surpressed.

Good but not great.
I love Daniel Suarez books and this one has a good mix of tech and character interaction bnut I do agree with some of the reviewers that the last few chapters were a bit forced. But still entertaining.

Not a bad story, but I prefer Suarez's other titles a such as the Daemon series and Kill Decision.Even though his books are all near-future fictions, the main premise in this one seemed less plausible for some reason, so I had a harder time 'suspending disbelief" compared to his others which could easily be present-day given the right circumstances.Having said that, I own all his books and will buy future ones without hesitation.Great author, recommended.
