I use this to shape and smooth leather in place of very course sand paper. After using a knife to cut and do some course shaping of the work, I normally start sanding with 100 grit sandpaper. It takes a long time (and a lot of sandpaper) to shape and smooth the work to the point that I can start going to finer sandpaper and eventually finish the piece.This grater is the step between using a knife and the course sand paper. It is more aggressive than sand paper, but still easy to control. Dry leather falls right off the grater and a lot of leather can be removed in a short amount of time without the risk of slipping and overcutting.

Great grater and the yellow accent is very cheery. One design flaw rests in the plastic cover: the purpose of the cover is to protect users/materials from potential cuts against the blade, yet the cover has two sizable (about 1 to 1.5 inches in length) holes -- the perfect size for a clumsy thumb or other delicious appendage. Since the grater's many holes already provide air to flow in and out when clipping the cover on and off, I don't see the need for the holes -- please educate me in the need for these if you do know.

For starters the advertising picture is deceptive. There is only one grater and I did not get the promised instruction booklet. The grater/Zester is not as effective as a microplane and is more dangerous to use as it's raised graters are sharp and could cut. This product does zest well, but I found I still prefer the safer microplane for certain tasks, such as grating a whole nutmeg or cinnamon sticks or hard chees. (The sales pitch suggests this new type of grater does it all, but I'd add not as well and more risky for fingers.)If you want one tool that does it ALL, choose a microplane. If you like a variety of kitchen tools, this one is a handy addition.

This grater is awesome!! It is much longer than the other graters I have seen and is not too long to fit in the drawer. It has a plastic shield that is easy to snap on and remove to protect your fingers when you reach in to a drawer. Trust me, no one wants to eat grated finger!! The grater has beveled sides so that what you are grating ends up in the bowl and not all over the counter. I will definitely recommend this to others!!

Easy to use and clean. I love this for all of our hard and semi-hard cheeses. I have been looking for a quality grater for some time. This one grates cheese quickly and the design makes it easy to clean. Cheese does not get clog the grater. Sturdy and I like the cover since it is quite sharp. I highly recommend. Great value.

Truthfully, it looks kinda cheap, but ,boy does this baby work! Better watch y'all's fingertips & knuckles if inexperienced at this sort of endeavor.I REALLY REALLY hope that it stays sharp and doesn't corrode ( or rust- if truly stainless steel it shouldn't ). Sharp and effective! Be careful when you are handling kitchen tools like this! Love the plastic guard that helps prevent any unpleasant accidents from happening when I'm rummaging around in my drawer for this. I haven't used this for cheese since I haven't needed to grate cheese that small, but it is excellent for zesting.

I have found this to be very useful. It’s small so easy to store.
