Portillo's Hidden History of Britain

Great book - with the usual 'Portillo' Style. Surprised and delighted to find the 'Local' Cambridge Hospital (now closed) featured, as I have many memories of being a patient there on several occasions. Not being military, the dedicated soldiers who staffed this magnificent, much loved local monument, was much appreciated. Its survival was a hard-fought, lengthy battle, sadly lost.

I haven't read this book but the quality of the text and printing is really good. It is a gift for my son

Well written book that is companion to the recent TV series, which gives a insight to the series and adds to Britain's Hidden History. Why wasn't any of these North of the Border or in other parts of Britain.

This can only be described as brilliant. I would suggest that if you are considering buying it just do it. You will not be disappointed.

Good read and I would recommend it.The down side for me was Michael's bragging about his time in Goverment.He mentions this fact in nearly ever chapter.The book should have a second title Michael's C.V

I was asked to purchase this for a friend for a present...it's exactly what you might expect. Well packaged etc.

You don't have to have seen the TV series to read this, it is a good read by itself. Not just the facts but some parts are quite emotional which you don't really get on TV.Highly recommended.

Was a fantastic book it felt like a narration and the facts where on point. I would read more by portillo.

This is a must read for anyone interested in the history of old buildings before developers pull them down.
