Inexpensive retinaldehyde that smells like oranges!
I really like this serum! I have tried other versions of retinol, and decided after a lot of research that retinaldehyde is the best most effective choice for my sensitive aging skin (I'm 46 and have normal to dry skin, visible pores, some wrinkles forming, and lots of discoloration - a little too much time in the sun when I was younger....)I love that this serum smells like citrus - I mostly smell oranges, but it might be a little lemony too. I apply this after my evening shower three times per week, (using up another product or using lactic acid on the other days,) and I find I don't always even need to follow up with additional moisturizer. The instructions on the bottle say to wait as long as 30 minutes after application to apply any other products, if at all possible. So I apply it right out of the shower, and then go to work on blow-drying my hair. By the time I'm about done with that, the serum has had a chance to fully absorb and settle into my skin. On more humid days, I can go to bed with just the serum, but it's not TOO moisturizing, that I think more oily skin types would enjoy this too. Just use it alone as your one-and-done night time product. I sometimes add a simple moisturizer over the top (I like e.l.f.'s holy hydration) and then I'm set.I'm not sure that I am noticing a huge difference in terms of wrinkles or discoloration, but my skin texture is fantastic with this product. Smooth, clear, glowy, soft, comfortable - what more can you ask for? I also had been using a high quality routine prior to trying this product, so that might be why I didn't see much difference. Maybe it's helping to PREVENT new problems with my skin too? Not sure. But for this price point, and this non-offensive fragrance - I'm sticking with it. :)

Great for acne and hyperpigmentation!
Best OTC retinoid serum for acne and hyperpigmentation!! I absolutely love it. Gentle formula, no irritation. Thanks to the ceramides in the formula, does not make your face feel dry or tight... If you have oily skin, you can even get away with not applying moisturizer (don't recommend that though). No pore clogging ingredients whatsoever. And really makes a significant difference in toning down redness and hyperpigmentation after breakouts. I used this along with a mandelic acid serum (and diet) to clear up my adult acne. It worked really well. Then, I switched to a different serum and tried it out... The other serum had azaleaic acid, niacinamide, and granactive retinoid... It was supposed to be so great... But it did not do as well as this serum. My skin would get very dry and I found that my skin was still having little clogs, I think it was due to the cetearyl alcohol in that serum... Which, in theory shouldn't really be a big deal, but does have a comedogenic rating of two, and if you're acne prone, that may not be a risk you want to take. Most other serums have ingredients like this that can potentially cause some pore clogging. Not this one! And, although the ingredients in the other serum should have helped, that serum did not help as much with the redness, hyperpigmentation, or breakouts.I ordered this and started back on it again, and literally after the FIRST night of using it again, I woke up and noticed a significant reduction in the red post acne marks on my face. I was shocked and looked up some of the ingredients, and apparently honeysuckle extract is supposed to reduce hyperpigmentation, be anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial. Also, eucalyptus oil can increase collagen production... And then also the gluconolactone is a gentle hydroxy acid. So this formula really is potent, and I found that the ingredients are actually much more effective than ingredients in other serums, without clogging my pores and keeping me in the breakout cycle. This is a serum that consistently makes my face look better when I wake up in the morning after using it. I noticed that my skin looks firmer (I'm 36 I'm just starting to have a bit of looseness in the skin), clearer, and more even toned in the morning. AND the ingredients are clean and naturally derived. Will not be switching to another serum again. This one is perfect, and I'm glad they dropped the price on it also! Well worth every penny.

Love this brand
I started using these products 20 years ago when this company was just starting out in Colorado and it’s exciting to see their product line expand. I firmly believe in their ingredients and find them effective.

Retinal is underrated
This is one of the few retinaldehyde serums that I’ve been able to find without fragrance/parfum and with a potent concentration of the active ingredient. I’ve repurchased it many times. A tiny bit goes a long way, so one bottle lasts forever, for me it lasts almost 6 months - but it’s not irritating like many strong retinol products. I actually use a couple different retinal/retinol products together and this works perfectly as the first layer I apply nightly after cleansing and toner. It’s gentle on my eye area (but got accustomed to retinoids first by very carefully introducing it and increasing frequency slowly over a period of months). Always use spf during the day while using retinol and retinal in your nighttime skincare routine!

Works well but packaging is TERRIBLE!
The pump on this does not work in what seems to be a design issue. The serum is too thick to pump through the small tubing. I have had this problem since day one. It needs to be addressed.

Terrific formula! I can definitely tell a difference in skin appearance and health
This is retinaldehyde. It goes on like a lotion - smooths evenly, is very yellow, has a very slight scent but dissipates after you spread it around your face. It's not drying. I use this right after I cleanse my face and often do not even need to follow with a moisturizer. It's very similar to Medik8 but less expensive.I don't want to go to the trouble and expense of going to a dermatologist to get a prescription for Tretinoin, and this is much better for the skin than retinol that manufacturers put into other creams or lotions and combine with other ingredients - this is retinal, which is gentler on the skin but still delivers results that make my face feel supple and glowing.
