A dwarf form of Chinese juniper, Shimpaku is a slow-growing evergreen shrub that is native to Japan. It usually grows to 3-feet tall and 5-feet wide over a period of 10 years. Its needles are soft to the touch and scale-lake. The gray-green and dull dark green needles are attractive year-'round. When left alone, this one grows into an irregular, low vase shape. It is a popular Bonsai subject and miniature tree form. This plant is especially well suited in the creation of a miniature garden or fairy garden.
