German Grammar Drills (English and German Edition)

This is a great supplement to my Rosetta Stone sessions. With Rosetta Stone, I am learning how to speak, read and write German, but with this wonderful book I am learning WHY the grammar works the way it does. The format is easy to read and understand, and I think that the author does an excellent job of creating quick-but-fun exercises to help reinforce my grammar skills. There are plenty of examples in the front of each chapter, and I will often refer to a previous chapter if I need additional help on a question.As the title implies, this book is a great way to reinforce your grammar skills, however, it works best in conjunction with a German class or other form of instruction. It doesn't give definitions for all nouns and a dictionary or a little prior knowledge of the German language will help immensely. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something to drill them on their beginner/intermediate German grammar.

I have written maybe one other review since becoming an Amazon customer in 1999, but I had to write another one. This book is fabulous. I've struggled with every German class I've ever taken, but this book has helped me so much. I don't know if it's the way he puts the charts together as opposed to the way they're organized in our textbook, or exactly what it is, but this book has been a life-saver. I even take it with me instead of the textbook when I go work with my German instructor, and she wrote the title down. I'm a PhD student, and must achieve a 3.0 GPA in four semesters of German, and now I feel like I might get there. Thank you for this book!!!!!

Lots of exercises -- much writing in the blanks, and much vocabulary lookup required for me to understand the drills. (I expect nothing less in learning another language.) I would guess, using my approach, it would require me 80-100 hours to work through the whole thing.I've already had a good foundation in German, but I wanted a teaching aid to practice, practice, practice correct usage. This is just the thing. It's really helping things fall into place. I'm thinking of looking into the other offerings in this series.

German grammar; difficult but not impossible. This book is a great help to understand the complexities of German grammar.

I was looking for a book like this, for a very long time.....I am a German native speaker and started teaching my 2 boys (12, 14) german grammar. They never have lived in Germany and their first language is English.I am not a teacher and can't explain things very well, but this book explains the grammar very easywith plenty of examples. Each grammar chapter has then up to 6 exercises, to practice and deepen thejust learned grammar. At the end of the book all answers keys are featured.I can definitely recommend this book ...

I think it would be helpful if the words were in English and in German. It's hard to know how to properly say a given phrase with no context of what is being said. And with the male/female on inanimate objects, it's hard to know what gender to assign to a word if you do not know what the word is.

One of the best book for learning German I have ever bought. This book and all the others like it by the same author give you a chance to practice grammar, verbs, sentence structure etc. The book has all the answers in the back so you can check your work. There are explanations of all the grammar rules and examples. I now own 4 of these books and I love working in them. I highly recommend them for people who need to put their learning into practice to facilitate their learning.

The book is advertised as "Perfect for Beginners or Intermediates". I'm a beginner, have been studying and taking a class for several months, and this book is too advance for beginners. That is why I gave it 2-stars. It might be a great book for more advanced learners but I wouldn't know. I just know it's way too advanced for beginners.Specifically, each chapter gives a summary of the grammar lesson. Well, it's more of a review of a grammar lesson. For beginners, it's way too much information to absorb and apply in the exercises that follow. I'm just getting confused. I'll have to save this book for use later. Much later.

I wanted to get a german exercise book where I could practice writing sentences. There are many examples and exercises. Not all the vocabulary is translated but I also enjoy checking words in a dictionary.

I'm still going on the book features but now I can already say it is very useful and full of exercises and the complete answer key is perfect! It is what I was looking for.
