Steel chips where they shouldn't be
When I took the poly bag containing the part out of the box I noticed steel chips floating around in the bag and after I took the part out of the bag to inspect the synchronizer prior to installation I also sound steel chips in the bottom hexaganol hole in the bottom of the unit. It appears that the steel chips produced by the hex broach in the shaft were not properly removed. It is a good thing I caught this before I placed it in the engine. Those chips might have damaged the gears and/or dropped down in the oil sump.It does look like a well made part otherwise. I will update this review after I get it installed

would recommend buyers to make sure to check if the roll ...
received an unit that seem heavier than Dorman's corresponding part, but not as heavy as the original part in Taurus, checked on the roll pin that attach the teeth gear to inner tube, seems secure, installed it about a month ago, working so far, considering some users reported part failures, would recommend buyers to make sure to check if the roll pin is secure, use suitable size punch or philip screw driver, and with a small hammer, lightly tap on the roll pin to see if it can NOT move

missing parts
This was not as described. The part had been re boxed and labeled as such. Not a Spectra Premium part as the number didn't match as described and the sensor was missing from the top. Had to get refund .

Excellent Quality and Reliability for a Very Fair Price
This is a superior replacement for the OEM Camshaft Synchronizer and Position Sensor (used for Ford Vulcan VIN U engine). The installation is easier than you could imagine and presents no difficulty even for the amateur car enthusiast, thanks to the position locking instrument it comes with. I've driven the car with this Synchronizer for several months now and can vouch for its very good quality and reliability. The engine is whisper-quiet, there is a a ton of extra low-end power (at low engine RPM) even when driven at steep inclines, and at higher engine RPM, the acceleration is now instant. On top of that, the engine remains much, much cooler even after hours of highway driving. If you need to replace your Camshaft Synchronizer, definitely get this one for superior quality and reliability.

DO NOT BUY THIS! Lasted 200 miles!!!!
Apparently the horror stories about aftermarket CPS synchronizers are true. Just bought a 3.0 B3000. I’ve replaced a few of these over the years in several 4.0 Rangers I’ve had. “New” truck chirped a few times, tell tale sign you need one. Bought the spectra. Looked good/well made. Pre soaked and spun it to get the bushings well oiled before install. Installed, worked fine, no squeaks. A week later and less than 250 miles later, got About a half mile from home, couple chirps and truck died instantly. Rolled it home and removed it. Almost but not quite fully locked up and red hot. Luckily the pin and gear didn’t shear and drop into the engine. Absolute garbage! Took the OEM one apart, honed and lubed the bushings and it has me back on the road until a new Motorcraft synchronizer arrives. DO NOT SKIMP HERE! buy the oem. They can destroy your engine. I got lucky it didn’t destroy mine. Had it locked up at highway speed it probably would have.

Solved the problem with no drama
This is not a difficult job but takes some care to be sure that the sensor and shaft are both lined up properly. I referred to a video someone kindly posted on youtube and also took digital photos during remove to use as reference during reassembly and it saved me a lot of heartburn. The new part functioned perfectly and not only got rid of an annoying squeak but also solved an ugly problem with hesitation during acceleration. The whole job took less than an hour and saved me a big chunk of change. (2003 Taurus)

In less than 20 miles after installing.............
In less than 20 miles after installing the Spectra FD32 in my pickup truck, the main shaft on it broke and the oil pressure went to zero.. Luckily I was only about 2 blocks from the house and saw the oil pressure gauge drop and was able to get back home before the engine was destroyed. When I pulled the top off of it the timing tab wouldn't move. I pulled it out and found that turning the gear on it wouldn't move the little tab on the top end of it. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE!!!! It almost cost me an engine replacement...

Went on properly, it wasn't too difficult to install
I bought this and placed it in my 2003 ford taurus se, there was no difference with the original part on the car, and it did fit properly.I would recommend anyone looking to replace this part on their vehicle to check the connection cable that attaches to the sensor to see if they need a part with or without a step. As well as when you go to change the parts remember to lube with engine oil the gears, the rubber seals, and the bottom of the drive that connects to the pin.Update: Still working well, the previous synchronized bearings were worn.
