Automatic Gate Lock (FM143) for Mighty Mule Automatic Gate Openers (5-(Pack))

This Lock is much better than I expected. I read several reviews that were unhappy with it. Those who were unhappy must have expected the impossible. Anybody with the ability to read and understand instructions would have no trouble with this unit.I am 72 years old and a one arm amputee but in 2.5 hours it was mounted and working perfectly. That included drilling and taping 6 holes in steel pipe and gate frame. Most would drill through and use long bolts but I am a bit of a perfectionist and don't like bolt heads on the outside.Bottom line ...this does exactly what is supposed to do and is very robust in it's design and construction. I used this with an FM350 opener and there was no issues with timing or delays. It worked perfectly out of the box.

Was pretty easy to install after trip with it to hardware store for stainless bolts and U bolt. I had gate close point set right and it worked 1st try. Adds a nice level of additional security to gate.

Product arrived day before was due to. That was great. Instructions were OK, so I looked on U-Tube. I leveled the 14 foot gate and drilled the frame and had to notch the farm post. I needed to make a quick run to TSC to pick up bolts, washers and nuts. Running the wire to the control box was simple. Turned the power back on pressed the remote opener and it worked. How long did it take to do install? About 3.5 hours. That's with my quick trip to Tractor Supply. My three dogs don't like the gate lock. They can't push the gate with their nose and get out.

This is the same gate lock that we saw at the store for almost double the price. It was not hard to install on our gate. There is a place on the circuit board for it. We had alot of trouble with the gate opening a bit in strong wind. The dog would then wait for this to happen and get out. This locking system works great and we have had no further problems with the wind opening the gate. The dog is very disappointed.

This is exactly what I needed to secure my gate. My dogs had figured out that they could push the gate open just enough to escape. The gate lock solved that problem. It latches securely and keeps the boys at home where they belong. Installation was very easy. I had to buy a couple of U-bolts for my installation, but it works like a dream. I have found that the latching tooth needs a shot of lube occasionally to keep it working properly. I'm sure the manufacturer will say its not necessary but, in my case it is. I found that the lock was not latching consistently after being in use for a while. An occasional shot of WD-40 or equivalent solves the problem and it works perfectly.

Overall the gate lock works well. It seems though that it has made my controllers connectivity a lot shorter; I used to be able to stand at my door (about 75 feet) and open my gate but now I have to be within probably 20 feet from the control box for it to activate. I had to custom make a plate/instation bracket for the auto lock assembly but I have a small 110v mig welder so that wasn’t really an issue - just had to buy a length of flat 2” steel, cut it about 5.5” and spot welded it together. After that I fully welded the plate in place and painted it. I just drilled holes and bolted it on as I didn’t want anything too permanent incase it failed to operate and I need to remove it easier. After mounting it the wiring was easy just two wires into the control board black and red. It unlocks a split second before the gate activates - very smart programming there! Works great!Now the bad and why it only gets 4 stars... I can pick this lock in about 10 seconds!!! The latch mechanism inside the can be pushed in to unlatch the catch! All you need is a thin flathead screwdriver and voila! Your gate is unlocked-open! Not real happy about that for over $100! So it’s not a real “security” lock. It’s more to keep the gate from blowing open when there’s a little “slack” between the closed position of the motor. It is a good trapasser deterant though. Besides - if a thief or trespasser really wants on your property they’re going to get in one way or another. Thanks for reading.

This works perfectly with my mighty mule 362 dual gate. Would've gotten 4 stars with a few simple changes! The install is Very easy in most cases according to the rep I had to call to help me through it. And it was in my case also. Just plug & go basically. But the instructions do Not state that as an option. My gate wasn't listed in the instructions. They had me wiring circuit boards & a lot of other nonsense until I finally called and said what gives. Lol! I was almost at the point of sending it back so I'm glad I called...and didn't have to wait forever. Also, he said the circuit board that comes with it is only necessary in some applications (not mine) but don't toss it because it's a ~$35 part. I would have Much preferred to be given the option to purchase Only what I needed and pay $35 less. As far as functionality, works perfect and glad I have it!!

This is not a lock as described but a gate latch holder. It simply holds your gate closed. You can push the solenoid latch with your finger and push the gate open. The key is just to hold open the latch. There is no resistance. It does not lock. Built with nice heavy steel and comes with everything except bolts, nuts and installation hardware to attach it to your gate.
