Great little unit
I've had Black & Decker toaster ovens for many years. Since I loved the last one I had, and used it to death, it made sense to me to buy another. The family has gotten smaller over the years so I got this model, definitely smaller than the last one. It's a perfect size for 1 or 2 people. It heats up extremely fast and does an excellent job, even on toast, which was the only shortcoming of my old B&D toaster oven. Highly recommend this! It's a great little unit.

Great product, best bang for my buck!
I have no idea what the people with negative feedback are talking about. It's the best toaster oven for $20. I read so many reviews and I was worried, but it does everything it's supposed to do. The ONLY complaint I have is the little metal dish it comes with-> it's really hard to clean if oil gets on it. Overall, great oven, great price, makes great toast. My suggestion is to please make sure you remove the metal baking dish before you make toast, otherwise the heat won't get to the toast at the bottom. Frequent complaints and my responses: 1. "You can put it on 'stay on' instead of 'off' really easily" - um.. no you can't. Firstly, there's a bright red light that tells you if the oven is STILL ON. Second of all, there's a big "ding" that sounds when you switch it to off. 2. "Uneven toast" - there's only 1 filament on top, and 1 on the bottom, so it makes sense to put your toast in the middle of the oven. 2 slices do work best though. 3. "It only fits 2 slices if my slices are big" - seriously? Obviously if your bread is the size of a small pizza, it's only going to fit 1. 4. "Burnt food" because of "stay on" --> um, again, there's a loud "ding" that comes on when food is ready... nobody should be leaving their oven on after the food is ready and not even bother checking it until hours later. You're a hazard, not the oven. 5. "There's a ticking noise for the timer" - I personally like the noise, since it reminds me that I have food in the oven, and it's actually on. - If it REALLY bothers you, I bet it bothers you when people don't clear the time on the microwave as well. SERIOUSLY? It's $20 taxes in and you want it to be ultrasonic?

Surprise, surprise
I entered my search for a replacement Toaster, Oven, Broiler with a real bad attitude! Not dispelled in the least by the scarcity of smaller and simpler product (of which there are too few). My counter space is very limited in my small cottage and I'll bet there are many people living in limited counter apartments who have the same problem. So, I ordered the darned thing I thought MIGHT work. While removing it from the packaging I was already wording my letter of dissatisfaction to B&D. Didn't like the button on the back that prevents it from hitting the wall. "Til I saw the vents back there. It still takes another inch away from the front workspace. The temp. is 1st and easiest to read in white letters CELCIUS! for G..s Sake! Farenheidt is printed in GREY on BLACK, also FGS! Have to stand on my head to set it! With magnification, yet. Still haven't conquered toast, I know there is a perfect place between the two slices of toast (one dark and one light) just haven't found it quite yet but I've only had it a month. So just toast on the STAY ON setting and wait 'til it smells like toast. Some times miss the timer bell setting and have to pay real attention by standing on my head and fiddling with it 'til the the light goes off. My son tells me to be very careful to be gentle with the TIMER knob. Once it goes, the whole thing is useless. The back plug in future models should be the flush type. the only location I have for my toaster oven requires the plug to lay on TOP of the oven. This may not be a problem for anyone but me, but might be a consider-ation for some. Over all I think it is the smallest, cheapest, and sturdiest of all I have seen. And, overall does a terrific job. B&D and all other manufacturers would do well to place the outer and inner dimensions on the OUTSIDE of the Box and in the descriptions online and elsewhere. There is no excuse for not doing it. Product: Black & Decker TRO490B 12000-Watt 4 slice Countertop Oven and Broiler w/ Removable Crumb Tray.

Works just like a toaster oven should
I've been using Black & Decker toaster ovens for the past 15 years, and there's a reason why I've stuck with the brand. This model is no different. Reasonably priced, the countertop oven does everything you could want it to--toast, bake, broil, etc. It seems pretty kid-friendly too, as it won't work unless you set the temperature AND the time (older models, you could just set the timer and function). It's been a few weeks and I'm happy with this toaster oven so far! Edit: I have been using this particular model for 8 years (at least 7x a week) and it is still working fine.
