Bro Science
I started the workout program completely untrained, and after 10 weeks, I had already stopped making progress. The workout program prescribed by this book has you do split workouts: arm day, leg day, ab day, 6 days per week. Tons of reps with light weights, and little to no rest. The book is full of questionable information with no research citations. In particular I thought the sections on nutrition and periodization were bad. The nutrition plan tells you to eat nothing but broiled chicken and chickpeas, and take lots of useless supplements. The periodization section relies on the debunked "muscle confusion" theory, but every cycle still has high reps with low weight.Instead of this ineffective workout plan, I am now doing an intense full-body workout every 2 days, and I am making much faster progress. I'd recommend books by Arnold Schwarzenegger or Michael Matthews, which helped me.

A Foundation for Success
Whether you are in search for a program that will deliver great results or just looking for a foundation upon which you can create your own custom strength training program, the Body Sculpting Bible for Men, Revised Edition, is a great tool to help you achieve your fitness goals. As a fan of the original book, I was pleased with the revisions and additional material included (DVD, FAQs throughout the book, updated workouts, etc). Yet it was great to see that the program is comprised of the same principles that made the plan so successful in the first place. The cornerstone of the program is the 14-day principle, which mixes up the entire routine every 14 days to maximize the body's response. Although I've experimented with different plans over the past few years, the 14-day approach is something that's allowed me to experience great success regardless of the routine.Other highlights of the program include:* The Power of the Mind - Many programs talk very little about the role that the mind-body connection plays in driving fantastic results, yet this is emphasized throughout the book with many practical tips to help you harness this power* Comprehensiveness - The book touches on virtually every aspect of fitness and body sculpting...from exercises, to nutrition, to rest & recovery, and beyond* Intensity - Supersetting and giantsetting techniques are used to provide a significant challenge, in contrast to more traditional, pyramid-based approaches* Sincerity - Throughout the book and the DVD, the sincerity of the authors and their genuine desire to help readers achieve their goals is quite apparent; it makes it easier to follow a program when you feel the authors have the readers' best interests in mindI will admit, I feel the book could have been even stronger with more extensive discussion of aerobic exercise, the inclusion of recent holistic approaches (core training, yoga, etc), and perhaps an even greater "facelift" from the original edition (color, font choices, layout). Yet these are minor issues in what is overall a very solid book.In the end, this book is a great tool to help you achieve a new body. If you are willing to supply the determination and the action, the Body Sculpting Bible for Men will undoubtedly help you produce the results. I definitely recommend it.

Super book; some cons to kindle version
A really good book, I agree with the positive reviews here. I got the Kindle edition which was a great value, but make sure you're using a Kindle Fire or iPad type device because you're going to want it to view the photos of the exercises. The biggest downside to the Kindle edition is the lack of a maneuverability between pages or chapters . For example it's difficult to get to the routine section at the end and then find the detailed examples, photos, etc of the exercise back in chapter #x, especially since you can only jump by location and not page number (which is what is cited by the authors for the routines) This is a huge drawback for the kindle version even if you have a fire or ipad.. I'm considering getting a hard copy because now having read the book I think it's worth it, but more so I can actually flip through the pages.Edit: I just got the hard copy of this book, (so now I have two copies). Same great material with the ability to flip pages helps a lot to employ the routines. Sometimes a physical book is better (although I like to read kindle books a lot).

Well-structured Program
This book covers virtually every aspect of body sculpting and includes well-designed programs for every level of conditioning, from raw beginner to advanced. Chapters include motivational information and the proper rep technique for maximum muscle stimulation. A comprehensive discussion of nutrition is followed by detailed sample diets and a complete, no-nonsense review of muscle building and testosterone enhancing supplements. Training chapters are organized by body part, with each exercise clearly illustrated in both text and photography. The bonus DVD leaves no doubt as to the proper form for each exercise. The training programs are set out thoroughly by day of the week and leave no room for error. Training programs are set available according to the type of equipment available and the trainee's level of conditioning. The overall quality of the text is excellent, with clear photography and well-written text devoid of typos. This program is perfectly suited to those who prefer to train at home, since it includes several intense, full-body conditioning programs that require no more equipment than a set of adjustable weight dumbbells and, ideally, an incline bench. As a lifelong fitness enthusiast, I learned several things I never knew, such as the ideal time of day to work out for maximum fat burning. If you have any interest in body sculpting at all, this book is well worth its modest cost.

Easy to Follow, Great for Beginners
Provides valuable information in an easy to follow format. Each exercise is laid out and described in simple steps with an emphasis on proper form. If you are interested in sculpting a better physique this is a good read. It also delves into the dietary and mental aspects of exercise and fitness. Great place to start your fitness journey. However, it is on the beginner side in terms of depth so if you're looking for something more comprehensive I recommend The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding: The Bible of Bodybuilding, Fully Updated and Revised by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Finally, some insight into what I should be doing in the gym (and the kitchen!)
I found this book to be interesting, informative and practical. This book gives me the background I needed in terms of how my body processes food and turns it into energy and how leftover energy or calories gets turned into fat! It also tells me which type of exercise is best for building muscle and shredding fat (mainly weight exercises in combination with a little aerobic activity). Even better than that, it tells me which types of exercises are best (mainly free weights using dumbells), when I should exercise etc. Even better again, it gives sample workout plans and includes lots of pictures on how to perform the exercises and a DVD as well. There is also lots of material on nutrition, what and when you should eat etc.Great value for money and highly recommended for beginners or intermediate gym users.

Training plan section is very superficial
Good description of the exercises, however, the other sections (i.e. nutrition and training plan) are very basic. Concepts are not well integrated together

Body Sculpting Bible for men
This book has been a God send for my hubby.Real advise for WHICH suppliments to take and WHEN along with a step by step workout routine all ready to go for different types or styles or getting there. We take both this book and mine "Body Sculpting Bible for Women" to the gym with us every workout to follow the routine and refer to the pictures. Great workouts have options for days we're at the gym with the machines and different options for the days we're at home with just our hand weights. Love these books
