If you follow the Montessori education system at home, this is a great thing to get
Rather than just writing with a pencil or crayon, this set is excellent because of the use of magnets to help guide your child to learn the letters. I specifically sought out a lowercase written language set because lowercase letters are more common to see and use in everyday writing and reading and this is recommended in Montessori guidelines. I wanted a highly engaging pre-writing exercise for our child. My goal in introducing this set to my child is to help to promote fine motor control and hand-eye coordination. Since this magnetic letter board can be written and reset over and over again, I know that it will offer endless opportunities for repetition to help encourage concentration. We opened the set and I tried it out before giving it to my child. The little magnetic balls essentially create a textured, bumpy path that goes around each letter. To play the game again our child will have to reset the board by pushing these magnetic balls back down. From what I know about Montessori, as my child runs their finger along each letter, the sensory experience is quite similar to what using the Montessori Textured Letters. This promotes both a visual recognition and 'muscular-memory." We are so excited about this set!

Great At Home Teaching Tool
This board is well made and durable and is a fun way for kids to practice letter writing. It comes with a magnetic pen that you trace over the letters and it brings the magnetic balls to the surface. To start over you trace your finger along the letter to make the balls release. It would be nice is the board was a little larger and contained both capitals and lowercase, but if buying one board I would start with lowercase and those are the letters we write the most. This is a great teaching tool and adds variety to learning.

A+ for fun!
It’s a winner! I bought it to help my 4 year old daughter practice forming lower case letters, and I can’t speak to that progress yet, but I can tell you this is a huge hit as far as fun goes. She loves playing with it! And my 18mo. old son who never stays interested in a toy for more than 2 minutes will play and play with this. I should take a star away for the fights I had to break up, but instead I am back to buy the uppercase letters so they’ll both be able to play at the same time. And, to be perfectly honest, I like playing too. There is something super satisfying about it, like popping bubble wrap. The only negative part is I’m not sure it’s going to help with the muscle memory of forming letters which was its original purpose (the “pen” doesn’t glide smoothly over the holes), but it’s one of the best toys I’ve ever bought for sure.

Great educational toy.
I bought a similar letter tracing board earlier this year for capital letters, and seeing how the kiddos all loved playing with it, I knew I had to get the lower case one. It comes with a magnetic pen and a board with lower case letters. You run the pen over the letters and small metal balls pop up as you go. Its such a hit with the kiddos and I have to admit i had fun playing with it as well. Great educational toy and will probably buy the number board as well.

Magnetic abcs
My daughter just started kindergarten in september. I wanted something to help write her letters which she doesnt know yet. My daughter was excited to try this. I have this and also the upper caseletters too. If you pressed down the magnetic it goes down . Having a child with autism this is helping her how to write her letters and practicing how each letter she suppose write. My daughter knows her abcs on her tablet but this is showing how to write. Perfect gift for any child . love this.

Nice if you don’t mind the noise
My daughter enjoys it. Parents warning: this is really loud. The magnets coming to surface and when they get pushed back down are much louder than I would have expected.

Strong magnets
My three year old is in the early stage of writing. She loves using this. The magnetic pen is good. I wish it had a string to it so I wouldn’t worry about losing the pen, but it snaps in easily. The magnetics are strong so it makes it a little hard to hold the pen, but the more they practice the stronger they will get. Easy clean up.
