Great book
Lots of pictures and descriptions. Of course finding a trainer would be better but there are many katas displayed. I'm sure an enthusiast with proper motivation could put this to good use.

A Must-Have For Iaido Practitioners
A wonderfully illustrated book which also provides excellent detailed instructions on the correct use of the Japanese sword. This book is quickly becoming a classic and I regard it as THE best book on the subject of Iaido (in English) written to date.

Cannot Recommend
This is a quite poor Iaido book mainly because the photos illustrating the iaido kata movements are almost without exception wrong, incorrect and totally misleading. Anyone who is practicing Iaido under proper instruction (i.e., qualified instructor/sensei) and using this as a reference book will be disappointed and will be mislead. Anyone who is practicing on their own (actually they should not as they will always get it wrong) will not be able to learn properly.

Great Overall
Excellent reference for those wanting to see what Iaido is all about.

Problematic
I was curious to see why this book had both 'one star' and 'five star' reviews so picked up a secondhand copy and can now see why. It is comprehensive and clearly presented but every kata I've looked at explicitly contradicts details that I've been taught. I know that seitei has had small changes since the book was published and that koryu has variations according to the dojo in which it is practised but I'd recommend checking with your sensei before basing your technique to these instructions. 'Iaido sword' by Babin is also a few years behind the latest seitei but is far closer to my own dojo's teaching.

A very simple guide
This is a very good introduction to basic sword drawing, well presented and focussed. Good value.

excellent read
well worth a read but I wouldn't bother unless your already training iaido in a dojo environment. Always check with your sensie as well as there are different teachings in iaido and teachings can differ from dojo to dojo.
