Great Gardens of Britain Hardcover – July 26, 2011

Not a particularly great book, the selection of gardens misses some really key ones (like Chatsworth) and most of the focus seems to be on hedges and topiary as opposed to cottage gardens, borders, etc. The English Garden by Buchan and Lawson is far superior.

Great pictures with an intelligent text.

An okay book but 2011 edition (i.e. 11 years old) which wasn’t made clear at point of purchase . A bit dog-eared and content possibly out of date because of age.. I paid £4.11 and postage was recorded as £0.00 which I thought was the bonus of being an Amazon Prime subscriber. However, there was a £1.99 Oxfam sticker on back. Disappointing ☹️

One can usually depend on Helena Attlee books for quality descriptions and photographs and this was no exception. It was particularly pleasurable to find that Britain was not restricted to England, as is too often the case, with four distinctive gardens in Scotland out of the 399 of which I am aware, two in Wales and one in Northern Ireland plus thirteen in England.

i am not living in britain but am a keen gardener. this book is a very representative review of iconic gardens of britain and a real feast for me. i especially appreciate wording: a bit of history, highlights of the garden during the authors visit, overall feeling - all you need to know for your first visit.

Amazing photography!!! My father loves gardening but despises books. At first he ignored this, but a few days later I found it on the sofa, open, on his designated seat. That means he loves it, and it's probably the only book he has studied besides accountancy textbooks (boo)

Fantastic book - reads well very interesting and looks good on my coffee table - friends are drawn to the beautifulCover - then open to look at the beautiful pictures
