Old switch came out easy, this one slid in easy - and that was the end of anything easy! Nothing worked about the switch, no light, no AC, and when I decided to remove it, it would not come out at all. I didn't smell burning or notice a fuse pop, but I suspect that like other users this has melted and fused into the unit at the back.I have pulled it to pieces, and have laid into it with a Dremel tool to grind it out, but it is still not out completely, and I may have to replace the whole back unit like other customers.Will be buying the OEM part at large expense and hope that I haven't damaged the electronics.

Totally my fault. I didn’t read the description. Toyota must have changed the design from 97 to 98. This will blow your ac fuse and tail lights fuse. It looks the same but internally is different. Not the sellers fault. Just be aware.

I broke the OEM switch in my 98 Tacoma, so I needed one of these. This one was the right price and it does work. It was very hard to get pushed into place. I had to flex the connector pins a little in order to get it to go in. It also doesn't have as clean a light pattern as the original.

For some context I own a 1999 Toyota Tacoma Pre runner rear wheel drive. When I received the product it looked like the original piece only some minor differences, when I went about installing it slid in easy at first then i really needed to apply pressure for it to slid in all the way, once in it did not sit flush and when I powered it on my ac stopped working and the light on the button didn’t even turn on, I checked for any other issues and it ended up burning the fuse, once I tried to remove it was STUCK to the point where it would break from pulling on it so much with pliers, to remove it I had to take apart my radio dash and disassemble the climate control panel even then it did not want to come out, after struggling a while it gave in not worth it at all LOOK FOR BETTER ALTERNATIVE.
