CookerMaid® Silicone Oven Mitts - Heat Resistant Cooking Gloves for BBQ Grill, Baking & Kitchen

Silicone is a miracle substance when it comes to its thermal properties, however these gloves are marginal in their ability to protect your hands from a hot pot. They are about as effective as a good cloth oven mitt. I think the basic problem is in the texturing of the surface of the glove. The nebs are too shallow to prevent hot materials from coming in contact with the base surface of the glove. Anything touching the base surface of the glove transmits heat very efficiently to the skin, making for a fairly uncomfortable experience. If the nebs were taller, I think this would not happen.I think these gloves might be more useful when grilling, protecting the hands from radiant heat rather than direct contact with hot surfaces.I would not discourage anyone from purchasing them. Because they are gloves and not mitts, they provide much better dexterity. And as I say they are no worse than a good cloth oven mitt.Update 7/23/2016: Been using these for about a year. I was at 3 stars but going to 4 stars. These gloves are much more durable than cloth. Hard to damage physically. They live on top of the refrigerator with my cloth mitts, and I'm always grabbing them, so I guess I must like them.

4 stars cause they're sticky and a little bit of a nuisance to put on. I'm happy enough with these not to return them, but they're not my first choice to use simply cause they're harder to put on than a regular mitt which takes like 1 second to put on. Once on, these have more mobility than a regular mitt, so there are pluses, but they're still not my first choice. No buyers remorse mind you - as I said, I'm keeping them, though they're in a drawer not hanging - oh, and that's the other negative, there's no loop. I couldn't hang these if I wanted to.Still, not bad, just, not in love with them.

Perfect gloves for the smoker. I've always found it to be a real pain to manipulate the air vents on my Weber Smokey Mountain. Oven mitts were bulky and a wet cloth never covered the metal well enough. These gloves are easy to wear and allow you to feel what it is you're touching, there's no transfer of heat, even up to 400+ degrees and the color is bright enough that you'll never misplace them.The silicone is grippy enough that you can pick up an eight pound pork shoulder right off the smoker grate and not worry about dropping it on the deck to make your dog's day. After you've finished with them they rinse right off under the sink hot water.Fantastic product, I don't hesitate to give this one five stars.

It's not what I had expected. We do a lot of our cooking with cast iron cook ware so the handles get extremely hot. The heat comes thru these gloves quite quickly so you cannot pick up a frying pan without having to put it down again quite fast. It does not block the heat like I was expecting and I would not purchase again. However the service was great, they arrived fast and were well packaged.

They are flexible so that they are easier to use than any of my previous heat resistant gloves. They are truly heat resistant as I used them in a four hundred plus degree oven. However, since I have had them only a couple of days I will reserve the fifth star until I see how they hold up over time.

Bought these gloves last week to use for moving hot items while grilling and smoking. I was able to bring in a pan I had on the grill without any problems. The silicone material is very flexible and easy to maneuver your grip without feeling constricted at all. The temp of the item I moved was between 425 and 475 based upon the temps on my grill so I was probably right at the temp thresh hold. I was able to get it in the house without any issues.Nice product! I would recommend!

As far as silicon gloves go, this is high quality. However, I don't think silicon gloves are very good. Of all its issues, the worst is their "stickiness" when putting them on or off. Cloth is so much nicer.

So far, so good on these. My girlfriend is using them to bake today and is thrilled to be able to pick up hot pots and hot lids without a problem. Will they withstand molten lava as some folks may assume? Probably not. But so far, for normal kitchen cooking, they work great. I'll probably BBQ soon and will see how they hold up when I flip steaks over mesquite coals...
