Frankie Avalon's Italian Family Cookbook: From Mom's Kitchen to Mine and Yours Hardcover – Bargain Price, October 6, 2015

I have always been a fan and have met Frankie Avalon. I also am Italian and love to cook Italian food and I have a serious library full of Italian cookbooks in my home. Some are good, some not so good, however, I really enjoyed reading this cookbook with Avalon family recipes. It is truly a down to earth cookbook true to the Italian/American culture. As I read the whole book, I could feel the love and passion that went into writing this book. The recipes are easy to follow and look delicious. They really reminded me of my growing up years and the from scratch meals my own mother had on the table every single night without fail. I keep up the tradition to this day and plan on trying a variety of recipes from Frankie's book, beginning with the seafood salad. I did promptly make a batch up of his salad dressing and it is delicious. I can't wait to try the sponge cake recipe with the cannoli filling. I think this book is a gem, whether you are an experienced cook such as myself, or a novice. There is something here for everyone if you like Italian food. I smiled when I saw the pizza recipe, which is exactly like I remember in my own house and I now make it this way too. I highly recommend this book.

Frankie has collected from his mother, friends, and family great Italian recipes that taste great. Some take ALL-DAY to cook or must be prepared the day before so some people from this I-want-it-now generation may be disappointed. The ingredients are easy to obtain and if you plan ahead you have before you an array of authentic Italian pasta, beef, pork, chicken, and veal dishes, as well as several salads including Doloris Hope's (Bob's wife) antipasto salad, and Frankie's easy home-made Italian dressing. Heck, there is even a dish for TRIPE sandwiches that Frankie's mom fed to the cast and crew on Malibu Beach while he and Annette Funicello were filming "Beach Blanket Bingo". The book has fun stories that Frankie tells in short snippets about a recipe obtained during his 60 year career! WELL DONE, Mr. Avalon!

This is a Great Italian cookbook. Last night I made the best Fettuccine Alfredo of my life and it was so simple. Lots of pictures with easy to follow recipes and covers all the classic Italian dishes you could ever want. My grandmother (the greatest Italian cook I've ever known) never got to share her secrets... I feel like I just got her back. Plus the memories and anecdotes from Frankie Avalon are a joy to read. You can feel the love that went into this book. I absolutely love it and highly recommend it... I'm buying it for all Grandma's kids and grandkids this Christmas. Buon Appetito!!!

This book has already won its place amongst my favorite Italian cookbooks. It is almost like getting two books in one; a delightful look into Frankie's home life with his large, happy family with stories of his Mama's kitchen (you can smell the sauce cooking while you read these) and a great cookbook filled with recipes from the kitchen of an Italian home. The recipes can be enjoyed by all, young and old, and the ingredients are all easily found in your local Italian delis or supermarkets. I can't wait to start sharing these meals with my family.

Just received this book and there are several recipes I plan on using. Always liked Frankie and like reading about his family.The recipes are easy and don't call for hard to find items.One problem calories are not listed. Oh well, enjoy eating.

LOVE it! The book is high class with quality pages. The cover and pictures inside are welcoming. The recipes with tips are amazing. And the tidbits of autobiographical information adds spice. I can envision how wonderful family gatherings must be.

This is one of the most informative Italian cookbooks I have ever seen. Loved the stories and history of the dishes. Great pictures too. One of my favorite cookbooks!

I really like the clear instructions and the typical foods he uses like the produce, meats and cheeses.Haven't had time to really try all of the recipes yet but am looking forward to trying them.
