Rethink this purchase
I liked this lighter for a whole two and a half months until the flint wheel went wonky. Now I'm trying to figure out if I can fix it or not... Not sure I'd recommend. [Edit: a few hours later, seriously] Okay, so I was miffed and gave the lighter two stars because it was broken. Honestly, I really liked the lighter. It feels good in my hand. If you're kinesthetic, you'll dig letting your fingers trace over the metal mechanics and the shape of the wood. They say it's rosewood, so I hope they're not lying about plastic, but the grain is pretty and the dark wood gives it a classic look. I imagine, if you're skilled, you could probably carve into it, maybe a logo, or personalize it and give it as a more special gift. The mechanics are... stiff. It's a strong spring. It's supposed to be. That's what makes it work. That being said, if you have weak ass thumbs, this is not the lighter for you. And for those missing, lacking, or in some other way you are unable to use your thumbs... You might want to rethink this purchase. I don't give five star reviews. This is my first. It feels like a well made lighter. And, no disrespect to Zippo, because I love my Zippos, but it feels as though the sealed fuel chamber keeps the fuel from evaporating as fast. Maybe I'm wrong. Just going off experience on how often I have to refuel it. Putting in a new flint is easy. And before I go... Dude, did you seriously read all this? So yeah, I said it was broken. When I swept the striking arm, it stuck and didn't spring-return, so didn't light... You know, broken. How I fixed it... There's a weird looking screw across from the striking arm. I tightened it and it now it springs... so lights... so isn't broken. I like this lighter.

Great Functional "Vintage" Lighter
I'm a regular pipe smoker and this is my go-to lighter. I've had it for 8 months now and it's going strong. I've gone through 1 flint but there is a replacement included inside the fill cap. It's a beautiful lighter and I love the feel of the lever striker. It's also a great conversation piece at parties and whatnot. People always ask about it. Pros: Beautiful The fluid does NOT evaporate out of it (or if it does it is very slow unlike a typical zippo which will be gone in a week of non-use). Easy fluid refill and flint replacement, I've yet to replace the wick but I imagine it will be easy enough. Feels solidly made Good conversation piece VERY good price for what you get Cons: The lever mechanism can get loose after repeated use (See below) One IMPORTANT note regarding lever mechanism: The lever mechanism will get loose after repeated use. If you are a frequent smoker then make sure to check the mechanism and tighten it every couple of weeks or once a month (a simple flathead screwdriver will do, there is a nut opposite the lever side of the lighter that you can tighten). If you don't do this then the mechanism will eventually fall apart and the tiny pieces will explode out causing you to lose them and thus render the lighter useless. I took the mechanism apart myself to see how it works and was able to put it back together, but I wouldn't recommend doing that else you risk losing a spring or something. Just keep it tight.

Almost 5 Star
Right out of the box, not too happy however, a few tweaks and this thing rocks! I filled it up and lighting was hit and miss. Three or four strikes and it would finally light. Not cool. OK, let's talk about how you can fix this thing. First, take it apart. Once you remove the flint spring, use the included tool to remove the ring nut that you will see beneath the flint screw. Now the base plate will come off as well as the nice wooden case and voilà, it's apart. Now, firmly pull the wick out and examine the fine workmanship. Then throw it away and replace it with a genuine Zippo wick. Nothing is as good. Then, if you have an old Zippo, take out two pieces of cotton and push it in along side the four pieces that are in the tank. They will fit nicely and give you a bit more juice. Reassemble, trim wick and fill. You're good to go! You may ask why go through the trouble? Well, it's a cool looking lighter and once you tweak it, it will light EVERTIME!

Great! Love it!
Sweet lighter! Antique rocker-arm / kick-start style lighters go for over $100. Loving this modern version for $20.99. It is larger than I expected. My hands are a lady's medium - you can see in the pic how large it is. It is a little larger than a standard Zippo. It is nice and heavy with no loose or rattling parts. The mechanism is easy to use with either left or right hand. It lights on the first try over 99% of the time. The smooth rosewood is very pretty. I expect it to look better and better with use. The lighter comes with an extra flint stored under the fill screw. It arrived inside a plain paper box wrapped in plastic with a bit of foam to protect it. Not very nice for gift giving. IMO this lighter is deserves to be presented in a nicer box. HOWEVER, the price is awesome and I totally understand the reason for the plain-ness.

Beautiful, well made and easy to use.
I have always disliked using the standard striker wheel that is common on most lighters, including disposables and zippo. This lighter beautifully solves that problem with a rocker arm that is amazingly easy to hold and light with one hand, with a soft flame similar to classic zippo. It may not be the best lighter for pipes with deep bowls, but great for general use. Comes with a special key for the rocker that we almost lost due to inattentive packaging so make sure you don't lose it. Filling and flint maintenance standard. May leak from the wick area if overfilled, solved by lighting a few times. As good if not better than your average zippo. A well made beautifully crafted unique piece.

Impressive looking. One of my favorite lighters. Lights up every time. No fuel waste. Outlasts all my other lighters. The negative is this is not windproof. [just use your spare hand]

Guys and Gals and whoever in between this is the best lighter I’ve come across in years. Excellent craftsmanship. This bad boy has been filled only once in over a week of lighting many many snoop dogg levels of joints each and every day without fail. Don’t even get me started on how cool the design is. I feel like I went back to 1855 and might be drinking some rum on a pirate ship ready to pillage another ship for its booty. I mean it’s up to you but I would buy it then love it because you’re not returning this masterpiece. Well done!!!
