One of my daughters' favorite books!
My kids read this at daycare and I noticed that both of my girls (ages 2 and 3) would recite the book in the car frequently. I asked daycare the name of it and I purchased it for a stocking stuffer. I am so excited to see their faces and watch them dance and recite the book. Its one of their favorites!

WHAT A FUN GIFT TO GIVE A CHILD
Cows in the kitchen is THE best book you’ll ever find for little kids. Today I’m ordering two more. You read it to the tune of “Skip to My Lou” and it seems that within this generation of young parents, most do not know that tune.Last week I sat with a mommy with her 8-month-old on her lap and we read through with me singing the words to the simple, easy tune. By the end of the book, Mommy had learned it. Then throughout the day, if the baby started getting fussy, Mommy pulled out the book, started singing and baby quieted down and grinned.Soon Daddy knew the tune and everyone would sing along. Baby LOVES it – we don’t know if it’s the charming words, the soothing tune or the colorful illustrations. Probably all three AND she loves it.So today the mommy called to tell me she wants to buy the book for her neighbor’s baby, but what if the neighbor doesn’t know the tune?I said, “That’s why it’s so much fun to give. The gift is not only giving the book but also teaching the tune like I did.” She decided this book is now her favorite gift for all the little kids she knows.

Catchy song that gets stuck in your head!
We first heard of this book when my daughter read/sang it during circle time at preschool. It is great for the 2-3 year old age group, and potentially kids older than that. It's wonderfully illustrated with bright and cheery colors and the words to the story can be sung as a catchy song to the tune of Skip to my Lou. I have to say that I wasn't expecting the singer on the CD to be British, but we mostly use the instrumental version on the CD and sing it ourselves. We also use egg shakers to keep rhythm -- something that her teachers did with the kids in school as they sang along. We've gotten a few Child's Play books from the doctor's office over the years, and I love most of them books because they really do keep my daughter's attention. This song is definitely something we sing just as frequently as our ABC's or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star ;)

Love the cutouts
I love the little cutouts because they connect scenes together. My daughter loves to put her finger through the hole and use it to turn the page. The story itself is fun and has a nice rhythm to it that the kids love.

Cows in the Kitchen
This Classic Books With Holes has quickly become one of my grandson and granddaughters favorite books. My grandson, who is only 2 years old now can sing through the whole book by himself, and loves it. And my granddaughter who is 13 months old can't get enough of it. It is one of a library of board books we have for them many of which are Classic Books With Holes. I highly recommend this book for the little ones to enjoy you reading to them and for the encouragement they need to lead them in the direction of wanting to read themselves. An excellent book.

My son's new favorite book/song. I love that they included the music ...
My son's new favorite book/song. I love that they included the music on the back cover so that I could figure out the tune and sing the words as we turn the pages and look at the cute pictures. The little peep holes on each page add another element of fun for toddlers as they look through the book. My son has it memorized at this point. :)

It's okay...
My son really likes cows, so we got this as his "reading" present for Christmas. It's a cute book, but not the most fun to read as the parent. Our toddler does enjoy it though.

Fun Animal Sounds Song Book!
My son is almost two and this is his favourite book! He loves the colourful illustrations, catchy song and holes to peek through on each page. It isn't a proper story so you may be disappointed if that is what you are looking for but as a song book this works brilliantly to teach children animal sounds through repetition. Sing along to the tune of 'Skip to My Lou' and your little one will be sure to join in too. Such a great buy for toddlers and would make a lovely gift. We discovered this ourselves only after seeing it read at a Library children's group. Must buy!!

Great series.
We love all the books with holes series. Or rather- my grandchildren have enjoyed them since they were six months or so and we keep buying more! This hasn’t so many holes as some of the others but a good addition to our collection.

Very amoooosing!
I bought this book as the kids were singing the song at a playgroup we attend. Its fantastic as its engaging for both a baby and a toddler, plus there's lots of things to talk about and look at to keep them both amused. Its really good for learning animals and their noises and is great fun. It hasn't got repetitive which is amazing given that we have read it every night for 3 months... a great buy!
