I specifically like how the white part does NOT get stained in tomato based sauces since it is meant to be heat resistant, up to 500F I believe. Make sure you get the heat resistant ones though. I use it for everything, stirring sauces, scrambled eggs, sauteing mushrooms etc. I love it and have several of them, including the plain flat head ones too, but I prefer to use the scoop shaped ones the most.

Q: Is this spatula BPA free?

That is a good question to raise with Rubbermaid. I don't recall a product specification sheet being part of the packaging. Since I use the spatula only occasionally, mostly with room temperature batter, I was not concerned about the possible presence of BPA in the handle.
