Decent quality, but creased.
TL;DRDecent set. Had to flatten the canvas but good quality print. Buy a better brush set if you are going to be buying more than one PBN.More detailed review.Arrived in a small box. The canvas was rolled up and flattened without creases (wrapped around paints, brushes, etc.) but the box is not heavy duty and at some point it had crushed, putting some heavy creases in the canvas. Removed 1 star for the packaging. I would assume that this would not be an issue if you get the canvas pre-stretched, on a frame (longer delivery times on this so I went for canvas only).Canvas.This is well printed. The lines and numbers are very clear. The overall size of the painted area is actually a little less than the 16x20 advertised—more like 15 3/4 x 19 1/2. Plenty of border if you want to stretch it onto a frame.I opted for the canvas only version, and also ordered Markin Arts pre-stretched canvas in a two pack. At 16x20 the frames are already assembled and I can rip the canvas off and staple my PBN on. No further assembly required! :)As for the creases, they CAN be removed with some patience, a hot iron, and plenty of steam. I put a cloth down on my kitchen counter top, which gave me a firmer, flatter surface than an ironing board. Turned the iron up to HOT, and steamed a small area of the back with the iron an inch or two above the canvas, before pressing down and ironing that area. I worked over the back of the canvas, then flipped it and worked the front the same way. The print was completely safe. Took some work, alternating between front and back, but eventually flattened out. When I stretch it onto the frame it should be fine. I shouldn't have had to do this, which is why I removed a star.Paints.Lots of little numbered pots containing acrylics. I can only assume that there is enough paint to cover the canvas, but I'm not going to be using them. More on this below. The little pots are well sealed, and the paint looks like it's of decent quality. I've seen some people state that the paint is thin and doesn't cover the numbers on the canvas properly, so the areas have needed more then one coat. This doesn't seem to be the case for me. The paint is thick enough that a small sample I put onto the canvas seemed to give really good coverage. Some people have mentioned that the colours in the pots don't match the expected colours on the canvas. I checked the numbers on the pots against the numbers on the canvas, and the expected colours, and they seem to match.Brushes.What can you expect for the price? Three small brushes of a quality you'd expect in a kids paint set. If you just want to try this out for one painting, they should be fine. If you know you are going to do a few canvases, then you might want to 'invest' in a set of brushes. It doesn't have to be anything expensive, but you might have a better time of it. I actually received two identical sets—brushes as shown match those in the product description—but I'm not sure if this was intentional. Incidentally, if you do decide to purchase a separate brush set, don't throw the PBN set away--they are cheap but if you want to dip your toes further into the painting pool, you can re-texture them (rough them up, cut a zigzag into the wider brush tip, etc.) for painting grass, hair, and so on.Other stuff. Also received a magnifying glass (plastic, but it works); a large paper version of the canvas, presumably to have a permanent reference for the areas and numbers—be warned, the print quality on this is not all that good; and a very small picture of the finished painting (no use for colour reference at all). The picture itself.I purchased an image called 'Window Girl', which is the back of a woman standing in an open door with her hand on a wicker chair. The images on Amazon give me a reasonable idea of what the finished painting should look like, but I went looking for the original art work to get an image with better resolution. I discovered that the original painting is one by Vicente Romero Redondo, if you are looking for a good reference.Painting by numbers.I've seen so many complaints that a finished PBN image isn't as detailed as the original. They never will be. Only by blending the paints will you get something that gives you the variety of tones and colours that you'll see in the original, and that is not how PBN works. There's nothing stopping you blending two adjacent colours a little so you don't get that distinct line between the them, but unless you are confident when it comes to this, then just accept that this may turn out nothing like the original in terms of variety of colour, tone, etc., etc. If you want something more 'professional' looking, watch some videos and learn some basic techniques, then try a little blending! Practice in the margins first ;)My changes.I already have a set of brushes, so will use those instead of the ones supplied. Acrylic paints dry really fast here in the desert, even in an AC-cooled house and using a slow-dry additive, so I have a cheaper set of oil paints that I'll try using instead. I'll have to play around with the colours a bit to match those in the supplied pots, but even if the match isn't perfect the oils will give me a lot more time to play with blending, etc. And if the blue door turns out to be green, then that's okay too :)

No reference sheet!
So far so good, not finished yet. Take lots of pictures to refer back to if needed.

The additional white sheet duplicating the canvas painting was not included
I look forward to doing the painting. I checked all the paint colors. Except for paint color 17, the quality of the paint was good (i.e., not at all dry). Except for paint colors numbers 20 and 17, the paint buckets were full. I am sensitive to this because I have had to buy a second copy of certain paintings just to have enough paint to use. As written above, I was disappointed to to get the additional white sheet that goes along with the canvas. This sheet becomes important at the end of the painting process when I've covered numbers on the canvas and can't figure out which color to use. I hope to be very happy with how the painting turns out. I find this a very relaxing activity.

The piece itself is great... but
My paint set lacked full paint pods. Several were only half full or very thick. I asked the seller to provide additional paints for certain numbers and they responded promptly. The issue is that the request was at the end of October and they have yet to be mailed out from China. I will now attempt to blend my own colors in order to finish this painting. Once finished it will be wonderful. (I'm that determined). :) The Canvas is great to work with, the map of the numbers is very much needed and I'm glad I have it. I just wish the paints would have been filled properly.UPDATE: I finished this piece the first week of Jan. 2021. The paints from China actually arrived mid Jan. Oh well, at least they tried. I'm pleased with the finished product and family felt it was frame worth.

Could have been so much better
I have done a ton of these paint by numbers. This one was actually shipped rolled around a piece of foam which kept it from creasing. That alone impressed me. None of the paints were dried out or thick and were the perfect consistency. The downside to this was that there were only 16 different colors that came with this painting. The painting could have been so much more beautiful if they had just included a bit more detail and a bit more paint colors for the palate. I've had many paintings of lesser quality but had more fine detail and a larger color palette that weren't such good quality. So getting one of this high quality, that was shipped with this much care, and then discovering that it only had 15 different paint colors was beyond disappointing

Very Pretty But Could Be Better Quality
This is my second one and it is much easier. However I noticed right away that the canvas was different. It was harder to iron out the wrinkles, it was white and seemed coated and when I began to paint, some of the paints would slide and appeared more of a watercolor painting. Maybe it is supposed to be that way. The paints were odd too. Some were a bit too thick and I just added a few drops of water as needed and stirred with a wood toothpick. Other colors seemed too thin and just a different type of paint. Some of the paints - didn't matter if they were lighter colors or not - would cover the lines and numbers. Then the thin colors seemed that no matter how many coats - the lines and numbers still show through. I plan to get creative and use some paints from another kit, with similar hues, to dab and cover the numbers and hopefully the lines showing. Otherwise it is beautiful. My son loves this one.
