4.5 brightly burning stars!
At last, the highly-anticipated conclusion to the Love is Messy Duet! I loved this installment just as much, if not more than the first. At the end of Hot Mess, you’re left with many unanswered questions. Who is Caroline? Why does Cole really hate Luke? What happened in the accident? Will Lexi and Luke get their HEA? In Twice Burned, all your questions will be answered, but not without experiencing some twists and turns along the way.Lexi is such a strong and amazing woman, who just loves with all her heart. Luke, sexy, sexy Luke. He was struggling with his past and didn’t always make the smartest choices, which lead to some misunderstandings, but I never doubted his love for Lexi.“You told me to find the beauty in the chaos,” he whispers. “And I did. It’s you.”Twice Burned is an engaging and well written novel. There’s drama, romance and a bit of angst. Lexi and Luke are two characters that you can really connect with, experiencing their emotions right along with them. I highly recommend that you add this to your TBR, it’s a story you don’t want to miss!

I'd be happy to burn up the sheets with Luke
No cliffhangerBook 2 of 2 in a duetTold from both POVsEditing issues throughout (cost it a star)I really like the first book in this series and with the cliffhanger it had, I absolutely had to purchase the second book. It was a page turned similar to the first book and I even found myself crying during an exceptionally emotion scene. The only thing I couldn't get passed was the editing. Lexi, the main character in the book in the book, is an editor...she makes fun of authors who get the characters names wrong and then the author of this book literally does it. She goes from calling the Fire Chief Jeff to referring to him as Jess a few sentences later. I get mistakes happen and I would likely have looked passed it if they specifically didn't call out authors who make this mistake. Beyond that both books had editing issues. It appeared the first half of each book was edited well but then by the second half of the books the mistakes multiple. With all that said, I still think the book is worth reading. It is a story line I have never really read before, with a few different twists and turns to keep things interesting. The author does a great job of making you fall in love with the characters and you find yourself rooting for them the entire time.I don't want to give too much away so I am being purposefully vague in my review but if you read book one there is no way you can skip book 2. Too many things are revealed.

Wonderful
Love love love Luke!!! He is yummy goodness!!! My heart broke for him. I knew that he had endured a tragedy that left him trapped in the aftermath. Survivors guilt is a horrible horrible thing to endure. But for Luke he was torn between what he thought he should do and what he truly wanted to do. He wanted to be happy and build a life with Lexi and her girls but he also thought it was his responsibility to take care of his best friends family. Caroline didn't help matters and I have to say I resented her for the pressure she put on Luke. It wasn't his job to take care of her and her unborn child. That is not the role of a godparent. She played on his guilt and I thought that was low. I can understand her devastation but I can't understand how anyone can ask for others to stop their life because of it. It really irked me.I also got so frustrated with Lexi. She automatically believed everything Cole told her about Luke. And of course these were lies. I couldn't understand why she did. She should have just talked to Luke. I can understand that her ex-husband did a number on her self-esteem but how are you supposed to build a life with someone when you automatically think the worst??? Heck a lot or all of the issues between everyone could have been solved by talking to one another. I mean they are adults and adults talk about issues. However in the end the happiness and closure everyone needed – especially Luke – was found and happiness finally came. I hope that there is a follow up on Luke and Lexi at some point. I am still debating about reading Cole's story. He didn't redeem himself in my eyes. This was a good duet and I recommend it!!!

Well Worth Reading
Loved both books 1 & 2! After reading the first book, I immediately ordered and started reading the second. The characters were well developed and I especially loved Luke, Lexi and the girls. There was interesting drama, awesome love scenes and heartwarming moments, as well. I highly recommend it.

10 BEAUTIFUL BURNED STARS!!
Twice Burned by Emily Goodwin.....10 BEAUTIFUL BURNED STARS!! Oh my goodness, what a great ending to the conclusion of the Love is Messy Duet. You must read Hot Mess before reading this one. This book is so amazing and worth all the wait it will hit all your emotion buttons, I was crying happy and sad tears. I loved watching Luke and Lexi fight for their relationship, it felt like real life the obstacles that every couple goes through. Will these two be strong enough to make it work, you will have to read and find out. Emily Goodwin is one of my favorite authors, I know her books are the best. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Good
I didn’t like it as much as the first because Lexi frustrated me at times the way she jumped to conclusions and also the way her and Luke didn’t really talk to each other about things. I understand that the author was creating angst though. In the end I still went with 5 stars because I devoured the book and and I absolutely love the couple. I look forward to the author trying to make Cole a likeable character in the next duet as he sure wasn’t very likeable in this one.

A great read
This is a fab read. It follows the rocky relationship between Luke and Lexi. Lexi a single parent divorcee has always had the hots for her boss Cole. On a girls work night out Lexi bumps into a sexy bartender Luke. They share a wild passionate one night stand together with the intention of not meeting again, but the chemistry is so strong that they can't stay away from each other. Little does Lexi know that Luke is related to her boss Cole. As the relationship intensifies and feelings grow, jealousy and old secrets come back to haunt them. Can they both weather the storm ? A great read full of love, lust, jealousy and family.

book two continues with the amazing connection and relationship that Luke and Lexi are developing
And just where book one left off, book two continues with the amazing connection and relationship that Luke and Lexi are developing. Gahh these two are amazing! I can't get enough of their love! And that ending....oh oh oh! One thing that was consistently bothering me was Cole, but with him getting his own duet, I'm interested to see how the author is going to make me like him. And of course hearing from Luke and Lexi again has me all kinds of excited! Loved it!!
