The UPA-700 delivers seven channels of superb quality audio, reliably and efficiently, in an elegant and stylish package. The UPA-700 has plenty of power to deliver a truly dynamic presentation, and the incredibly smooth frequency response and low noise and distortion you need to clearly discern every nuance in a well recorded piece of music (or a crowded scene with complex dialog). Inside, it boasts the proven class A/B topology, oversized toroidal power supply, and effective protection system you would expect from an expensive audiophile system.

I'm impressed.
I'm running an Onkyo 706 as the pre-amp out to this amp to 7 speakers, fronts are towers, the rest are good sized speakers, including 2 Bipoles with some serious wire run distance. This amp won't make everything seem a lot louder. It will make everything sound better, provided you have decent speakers to begin with. The lows are lower and tighter (tested with sub off) and the highs are higher. There is just a cleaner, crisper sound to everything, both music and movies, that was apparent immediately. This amp made the single biggest difference in the sound of my home theater--including new speakers. There is a 12v trigger in for receivers that have it, so you can turn the amp on and off with your existing receiver/ preamp.Another thing of note, this poweramp is rated 80w per channel WITH ALL CHANNELS RUNNING. Receivers give their ratings in stereo (2 channels). My existing receiver ran 90 watts in stereo only, so who knows what the speakers were getting during a movie.

Fantastic power amp!
I came from a Pioneer A/V 5.1 receiver and upgraded to the Emotiva UMC-200 and the UPA-700. This combination had my system sounding so good and so clean. Unfortunately, a little 5 years in, my UMC-200 power supply failed and now 1 month later my UPA-700 has now failed. I started noticing scratchy, distorted sounds coming my front right and rear right channels. After troubleshooting that it wasn’t the speakers themselves, the UPA-700 shut down permanently. It flashes 7 red LEDs across the front which is the amp going into protection mode. I contacted Emotiva and they are going to honor free repair to my UPA-700 because it’s just about 3 months outside of warranty AND I just went through the process of exchanging and upgrading my UMC-200 to the MC-700. Emotiva can’t be thanked enough for this because I was seriously on the brink of sending everything back and buying a new Pioneer Elite receiver.

Bad product, Even Worse Customer Service
Product broke in less than a year. The front left speaker connection has started to malfunction. Their is a hissing/static sound plus the sound quality is now awful. It also appears that the problem is progressing to other things-- random cracking sounds and changes in audio level. What really blows is that Emotiva is charging $45 for the original box as they will not accept warranty claims unless it is in the original packaging. Then, of course one has to pay for shipping to Emotiva. The best part is the 18-20 business days for the repair to be completed.I've learned my lesson and will definitely not purchase an Emotiva product ever again.

Great upgrade for a used receiver but not audiophile.
Purchased this amp as I wanted to upgrade my current home theater set up. Denon 3313CI, Golden Ear Triton sevens and Golden Ear Sub. Golden Ear XL Center. Polk surrounds.I ran Audesey numerous times as the Denon seemed to struggle with the new set up. This is a negative on the Denon and not the Emotiva. It seemed that every time I ran the program that audiophile separation I was looking for was not to be found. I always do my testing with music. The result was a screaming quality to the music with just too much high ends for my taste. Infact any considerable volume made the system almost hurt the listeners ears as the top ends seemed to bleed.Movies well that is a totally different situation. My movie viewing experiences with the UPA-700 has been wonderful. There has been countless moments where I sat back and enjoyed the quality of the sound over the movie itself. In conclusion. The UPA-700 will upgrade your system, however is it a significant jump over mid market receivers such as Denon/Onkyo/Yamaha? I would have to say after my experience the upgrade is very minimal especially if you do any two channel music listening. Movie viewing has been a fantastic upgrade to the point where I am considering selling the UPA-700 and investing in an upgraded Emotiva amp.

Great amps for active speakers
I've had two of these amps for about a month. Each amp powers one of my stereo speakers (each of my active speakers requires six channels of amplification). These amps are a HUGE improvement in sound quality over the old Onkyo AVRs I previously used. Bass definition is outstanding. Treble was smooth and extended right out of the box; I was surprised that no break-in period was needed. MIdrange sounds natural and effortlessly detailed. These are audiophile quality amps. Emotiva is phasing this model out but the next version should be even better (or just more powerful; 80w/channel was plenty for my active speaker application).

the best power amp
extremely outstanding unit. great construction. the sound quality is outstanding. great solution if you are looking to bi amping your loudspeaker. specially fronts, and center, when most of AV recievers outhere only let you handle 5.1 setup in biamp mode instead of the 7.1 channels of normal operation. with the add-on of this beauty piece, you can biamp up to 7 channels. is coming with in and out trigger port for automate on/off when you power up your main receiver.if 10 stars could exist i'll give 11.
