Works great for both steel and airweight J-Frames, I replaced the grips for both of mine.
The Clip Grip was one of those accessories that I was a bit unsure about but took a chance anyway and I was glad I did. First off, these are hard plastic grips just to be clear beforehand for those who are used to rubber or wood grips. The grips make loading a regular HKS or Safariland speedloader a little more difficult but once you figure out a few minor adjustments you can use them fine with these grips. I have also gone to the range with these grips on and I was pleasantly surprised that they absorbed recoil quite well, I'd say better than the stock rubber and Hogue grips I have had in the past even. The actual clip part of the grip that you attach to your pants or on the belt as a makeshift holster worked better than I expected. Of course the type of pants and whether you have a belt changes the comfort and effectiveness of the Clip Grip. It's fine lounging around with the Clip Grip on over sports shorts, but I know that it is really clipped on securely when I'm wearing jeans and a gun belt. Lastly, the best part is that the Clip Grip does not interfere with any of my normal holsters for my J-Frame so far. I have replaced my grips on both my airweight and steel J-Frame with the Clip Grip.

This is the perfect addition for a Smith & Wesson 642 Airlight
Talk about a great product.I have used the product for several months and could not be happier with how well it works. You can now securely conceal carry (with carry permit if required of course) without any bulk from a holster. I was hopeful this would eliminate the need for a holster when I ordered this grip and I am truly impressed with its performance. It is secure, is designed to slip between your underwear and pant (clip rides over the pant and belt if your wearing one). You can very quickly draw and can wear this with shorts. I am thin and bought the .38 because of its low profile. With a holster the gun showed and I was uncomfortable carrying. With this grip, the gun is completely concealed as it does not add size. The gun will also still fit in most holsters if you decide you want to ankle carry for example. As with any product, there are some drawbacks for an un-holstered gun.Since the gun is not in a holster, the steel is exposed to you skin and sweat. You need to keep the gun wiped down from time to time. Also, if the steel is hot from being secured in your vehicle, you not going to want to put it on right away, you'll feel it!Did notice that the holster isn't a perfect fit, just a slight overhang at the palm but does not degraded performance. Also, the solid clip piece does slightly change the angle your trigger finger lines up with the trigger, again not an issue for me. If you have short fingers, it may be an issue.I would highly recommend this product and I am surprised more people aren't using it. It is secure, better than pocket and holster carry and is a very quick draw.

Think twice before ya buy
Good quality. Fit OK Hard material and don't hold well in your waistband. Not a good improvement.

One of the best accessories for a S&W J-Frame.
First of all, as others have pointed out, these grips are made of hard plastic, most likely glass reinforced nylon. They may look like black rubber but they are not.Second of all, the grip portion of this device is made in the style of a Spegel boot grip. They provide reasonable control for shooting but are mostly designed for compactness and concealability.Thirdly, the generous pocket/belt clip portion of the grip does bear against the inside of the index finger on my right hand but in no way interferes with trigger manipulation. This might be an issue for shooters with very small hands but I kind of doubt it.I did read reviews which mentioned the brass DeSantis medallions coming loose during shooting. I don't remember if they are held on with a screw or nut but I know I applied a little red Loctite at the time of purchase and have never had a problem with them loosening or falling off.I know that my grips overhung the grip frame on my revolver ever-so-slightly and I used very fine grit sandpaper to dress up the corners a bit. I wouldn't say the grips "required fitting" but they did need some very minor work that didn't take more than 5-10 minutes. And then only because I was being very careful.I haven't used the Clip Grip for IWB carry but it works very well to keep my S&W 442 in position for a quick draw from the front pocket of my jeans. This is the easiest "grab and go" device I've found for running out of the house any time of the day to respond to alerts/alarms. I'm very satisfied.

Does what it's intended to do, may need fitting to your revolver
A pair of these grips are presently worn by my Smith 442. I can comfortably carry my revolver in dress clothes with the handle peeking out of my belt a tad and nobody seems to notice. Normally, I pocket carry this revolver (in jeans with a DeSantis Nemesis holster), but the clip gives me options. The checkering on the grips is adequate, the hard plastic means it won't snag on clothes. Now for the bad. There was excess plastic on mine along the backstrap, which left a noticeable sharp edge. I ended up sanding down the panels to make it smooth. You can now tell that I altered them at a glance, which I'm not fond of, but the comfort level is much higher. I'll take the good with the bad, 3 stars out of 5 because it's never ideal if you're sanding on what's supposed to be a finished product.
