This tool is not merely handy, but essential if you are disconnecting this type of fuel or transmission cooler line connection. You could monkey around with trying to push the four locking fingers aside with a small screwdriver, but you can't do them simultaneously that way, also you stand a chance of damaging the connector. Spend a few dollars and get this tool (or an equivalent), you make that aspect of vehicle maintenance much easier.

nope. not the right tool for the job. many people I have talked with share my thoughts on this cheaply made tool. It would be awesome if the material was stronger. It would be great if the arms were a bit longer to reach up into the frame rail of the vehicle. It would also be great if the maker of this product ground the edges of the disconnect arms with a bevel so it would slide right into the quick disconnect fitting without having to grind them down with a bench grinder. I suggest that you by the right tool and that tool is ( Lisle 37300 wrench and 37000 fitting socket adapters ) this is what your local shop uses and make the job much much easier and faster. These tools with not break the budget either.

I do use this tool as a professional so i can say it does hold up to constant use everyday. Every time i find myself using the plastic ones and find myself getting no where. I kept borrowing other techs and decided it's time. The tool does do a decent job of disconnecting the line. I mainly use it only Chevrolet's as that's what i work with but have also used on few other domestic, Asians, and imports so it is universal. Comes with two different sizes both are fairly common, it does take a little bit of wiggling to get it off. A tip is to push the fuel line toward the tool then push it away from you. ALWAYS relieve the fuel pressure or you will get a face full of fuel. Otherwise, it's a quality tool and happy i now own one.
