Excellent wood carving tools
Perfect tools for wood carving. I liked the cost effectiveness of buying the set. Sharp right out of the box.

Good and Sturdy
My guy bought these. They were very sturdy. He thought they were a great value for the cost.

The best
What can anyone say about Pfeil wood carving tools? They are arguably the best on the market - they certainly sharpen up better than anything I've ever used and hold that razor edge longer than any others also. I know some will argue for the Two Cherries but as someone who owns both, I mostly reach for Pfeil unless I don't have the tool I need in Pfeil and only own it it another brand. I wish I could afford the zillion or so dollars it would cost to own every carving tool Pfeil makes but unfortunately Momma didn't give birth to a gazillionaire so I have to just add a few whenever I can afford them. If you have the money for these tools, you won't be sorry you bought them. I remember something Henry Ford Sr. said a very long time ago "If you need a tool today and don't buy it, tomorrow you will have paid for it and still not have it." - Henry had more money than most of us. If you make money carving wood, you'll want these today.

Reasonable price, great quality.
Used these to finish off a Windsor chair seat. These make all the difference vs the el cheapo brands. These came razor sharp and can be used right out of the package. Most chisels do not. My only wish us that they included some sort of. Box for storing them, but that's a relatively minor issue.

Decent quality
Likes:* relatively comfortable handle* bevel edge is thin enough for dovetail work* after properly touched up they hold a good edge that is on par for premium chisels* good balance in hand* wide variety of widths* overall construction and workmanship should be good for a very long timeDislikes:* handles are finished to a point where the end user must take the time to properly smooth and seal for a silky yet grip able surface* factory polishing on backside leads to increased time in flattening backs to get it to a nice flat surface that will provide a fine cutting edge, some took somewhat of a ridiculous amount of time, some were easily flattened.* inconsistent on the factory bevel and geometry, at actual cutting edge. You will need to spend time getting this right.* 25° was a bit too fine for harder woods as oak and hard+ woods...30° secondary proved to hold a superior working edge much longer. For the most part with this steel. Your results may vary.Overall finish and out of the box usefulness leaves a bit to be desired for the price range. Now mind you it isn't horrible, and I may be nitpicking the details but I'd prefer just that extra 10% of detail to really earn it a true 5 star.So far I've enjoyed the use and I feel they are a good quality tool, albeit you tune them up a bit.

Chisels are amazing. DON'T BUY FROM WOODCRAFT!!!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the tools. I mean...they're Pfeil. Nuff said. 5+ stars.Woodcraft on the other hand...I don't know or even care how they treat and/or care for their own personal tools but the way these were shipped to me was absolutely unacceptable. Over $200 worth of carving tools that were thrown loosely in a box that was way to big for 6 chisels and a few sheets of brown paper for padding. The amount of care that went into making these tools should be carried over to the distributor and then on to the customer. You absolutely failed at this woodcraft. I now know why you have so many negative reviews on Amazon, Google, Yahoo, even your own website. I will not be purchasing anything that is sold by you again. Zero respect for the customer.Oh yeah...woodcraft was kind enough to send along a pfeil brochure with this order. Not only does it say....Respect, care and longevity...Carving tools should be handled with care. Roller cases, wooden boxes and special wooden strips on the wall are suitable for storage. The tools must not fall on the floor or hit each other. Defective cutting and injuries can be avoided. To prevent corrosion (rust), the tools should be kept in a dry room. If the tools are not used for a long time, it is advisable to protect the blades with a thin oil. We know that you deserve the same respect as your arrow, which we pay to every single tool in the manufacturing process. A lot of manual work, care, our high standards in development and production and several quality controls during the entire manufacturing process form the basis of our quality and guarantee promise. It also says that every tool comes in a protective slip case.Yup....didn't receive those.Never again.

Sharp tools delivered in perfect condition
This set has all the tools I wanted in a Pfeil starter set, but I was a bit hesitant since several reviews mentioned poorly packaged tools arriving with damaged edges.I was pleased to find that the six tools were wrapped in paper without touching one another. The ends were all dipped in wax which protected them. All tools were very sharp and cut pretty well out of the box.I spent a couple of minutes stropping each of them to get an outstanding edge.

Worth every penny and more.
Cuts black walnut like cheese right out of the box. I bought a cheaper set and regretted it til I bought these. Don't skimp on tools. Get the right tool first. Pay the price for quality. You won't regret it.
