I think this is Debbie Macomber at her best! The four main characters were different from each other but were realistic women whom you would like to have as friends. Each one changed and grew as the book developed. The idea of each one's expressing her thoughts and recording events from her point of view by writing in a journal helps the reader to identify with each character. Combining that technique with using some third person narration helped move the story line along, and it all worked beautifully. This is the story of four women from diverse backgrounds and of different ages who meet in a class where they develop skills in journal writing, become friends and want to continue meeting on a regular basis. Consequently, Every Thursday at eight AM they meet for breakfast. Each woman's story is different, each is fascinating, and the reader will be rooting for each person as she faces her challenges just as the women in the book do for each other. It's a heartwarming book filled with love, joy, sorrow and romance. Another great read by Debbie Macomber!

Enjoyable
Trigger warnings for Divorce, Domestic Violence and CancerEnjoyableEasy to follow stand-alone that cover the live and friendship of four separate women. Some DV, no editing errors or drag-you-down drama.Interesting storyline with descriptive writing that draws the reader into each scene and personality. Realistic procedures, actions and reactions. Believable characters with distinct personalities and lives. Thought-provoking and memorable dialogue.'Hey, if my mother wants to change me, then I should be granted the same privilege. If I’m a disappointment to her as a daughter, then she should know she’s not my picture of the ideal parent, either.'I may re-read this story and always look forward to works by this author.

A story of friends
Debbie Macomber knows how to set up characters that you immediately get to know as someone you know in your own life. These four ladies meet every Thursday morning at eight to talk and support each other in many different circumstances. The story is well written and as you read, you feel all the emotions these ladies are going through. It is an excellent read for a snowy day. I highly recommend it.

Debbie Macomber is a writer who writes books full engaging characters and inventive story lines. She does it again in this book. No violence. No vulgarity.

A good read, just don’t give up too soon!
I loved this book. It took me awhile to get into it because their were so many different characters, I had to keep flipping back to see who was who. Once I was used to them, their stories were great to see how they all came together for each other! All because of a small group with different backgrounds!

Narrator is extremely annoying! Switched to Kindle, excellent book!
Audible version.Sorry, I’m sure the story is a good one, but I just could no longer stand Laural Merlington, the narrator. Terrible tone to her voice, and way of talking. I barely made it thru 2 chapters. I got my money refunded. I’ve run into so many awful narrators lately, I’ve mainly listened to books I’ve already read that have good narrators.Additional remarks. I did get my money refunded for the audible version. I then got the Kindle version. I read the whole thing, it’s great! So interesting! I give the Kindle version a FIVE!

Another Positive Read
Debbie Macomber always offers some life lessons in her books. I enjoyed this story and there are many lessons about life's direction throughout each woman's journey. It was sweet to see how women at different stations in life were all brought together and how they learned to lean on and support each other. It was an easy, pleasant read.

Thursday at eight
At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but as I kept reading I found myself wanting to find out more. I love the idea that they met every Thursday to catch up with each others day to day happenings. I wish I had that in my life. I did not want the story to end.

One of her best
I enjoy all of Debbie's books but some are just more outstanding. This is one of them. What I love about her books is how she continually demonstrates the absolute need for friendship among women. That's the true wealth of her books. Friendship between generations and how that interconnected love and support is,truly our salvation.

Loved the story
This is one of the best Debbie Macomber books I've read. Made me laugh and cry and was a reminder just how strong and resilient women can be. I would love to have a similar group of best friends!!!! Wishes I know do come true too.

Thursdays at eight
I bought this book on my kindle when it was the daily deal so only paid 99p for it. I am glad I did not pay full price for it. I did read it all the way through and it was an easy read. Lots of the characters had obviously featured in previous books that I had not read but it was easy enough to put together what had happened previously. I would describe it as a book with no substance and face value characters who are obviously going to have a happy outcome to their problems. For all of that it is an undemanding read and a pleasant book
