It Just Makes Sense
I’ve been into sound healing for many years. The whole idea just makes a lot of sense. And you can find all sorts of books on the subject, from chanting to tuning forks to mantras. And all of these aspects of sound seem to work. But until now, nobody has ever written a book on what is probably the easiest sound we can make—humming!Sound healing pioneers Jonathan Goldman and Andi Goldman have written a really user friendly book that explores conscious humming—how humming may be used for healing and transformation. The book begins with scientific material that validates that yes indeed, humming has some truly beneficial effects on the human body. Then it goes on to provide some powerful exercise in order to experience these effects.Next the book explores the concept of humming as an aspect of sonic yoga. The Humming Effect concludes with some hypothetical speculations that are really fascinating—that humming can be used to treat neurological disorders and create new connections in the brain. The Goldmans provide a good case for this as being a great possibility. I hope that soon scientists begin to research this concept. It just makes sense.Incidentally, I first got this book on kindle and it amazed me!

Who Would Have Thought of This?
The Humming Effect: Sound Healing for Health and HappinessByJonathan Goldman and Andi GoldmanReviewedbyHenry Reed, Ph.D.One of the ideas in the Edgar Cayce material that I found most intriguing was that our own voice had the greatest power of anything we could do physically to change our consciousness, our sense of being. In other words, if there is such a thing as vibrational therapy, then our own voice is potentially our most powerful medicine. How do you apply “voice medicine”? The most likely answer, based on common knowledge, might be “by chanting,” or “toning.” That would make sense to me, and matches my own experience. On the other hand, I’ve come across a book that recommends humming! The Humming Effect: Sound Healing for Health and Happiness confirms so many of my suspicions about the use of the voice on the body. As the authors explain, when combined with healing INTENT the vibrations of the voice have tremendous power. It is a simple idea about a powerful effect: focus on a part of your body that doesn’t feel so good, set the intent of healing, begin to hum having positive visualizations as you hum, and be mindful of what transpires.Their book covers the field of sound therapy generally, and gives specific exercises for developing an intentional humming practice. Highly recommended!

Well worth the read.
First up its an easy uncomplicated read and not too long a book ( approx 120 pages ) both of which I like. I loved the first four chapters which dealt with topics such as the power of thought and its emitted frequency , all about sound , the benefits of humming and how to breathe when humming . The next couple of chapters I did not find quite as interesting with topics like Yoga , how to hum and more discussed . Nice to see that examples of humming are provided free by the authors on the Internet which can be used in conjunction with this book . Overall its a good book . Recommend.
