Environmental Concepts SBM12 Soil and Bark Moisture Meter

I was looking for a more semi-sophisticated moisture media marketed for the home gardner/horticulturist. This was twice the price of others so I figured it may work. It is a little more sensitive than the old sticking the finger in the pot and better than waiting for plants to fie before watering. I took four measurements in the same pot of cacti and each were different shades of yellow. Too bad there wan'[t a numerical index and their handy guide more descriptive for a given plant. I love my plants so I do much to keep them happy, so I may have wasted 19.99 .

Item doe not work . B O out of the box. Luster Leaf says product is no longer made and they can't do a thing about it.

Very helpful for all my plants. I would buy it again.

A moisture meter is supposed to tell wet from dry. This one gave the same dry reading on soil setting for a new, dry african violet and one just watered. I would certainly not trust it for my orchids!
