Decent
Just a quick review of the Roam. I also have a contour GPS, I bought it to use on fishing tournaments as my friends and I enter the Mako Mania tourney in NJ every year. I used the gps last year with the underwater case to take fantastic video of the sharks circling the boat placing the case on a painters telescopic pole and dunking it in the water attached to the handlebar mount.Well last year as I was battling a mako shark, no one was on the camera and we missed a fantastic jump out of the water. The sony camcorder was on the console off, and the gps was still in the case on the pole and I realized I will need a third camera since the action gets too frantic for the rest of the crew to operate one if I am on a big fish.I chose the roam because it was a bit cheaper then the Contour+. I did not use it underwater, I used it with a headband. The GPS can be a pain to operate due to difficulty in turning it on and off (the power button is a bit flaky and requires more force and extra time to 'boot'. This is where the roam is king. It's very easy to slide the bar at the top as opposed to hoping the power button boots in time and sliding the bar on the gps. It's the instant on that makes it invaluable to catch the action and give you a chance to catch a great shot.Criticisms: the mic seemed to work just fine out on the ocean, even with the wind constantly blowing. I tested it in my car with the music blaring though, and it appeared to 'overload' and break up a tad. I didn't further experiment with this though. It's very acceptable IMO however thus far.The other criticisms I have is it does tend to "fisheye" a bit, but it's not a game breaker. I knew the quality was going to be a step down from the GPS. Also, since I am combining footage from both cameras side by side, the Roam's 30 frames per second limit compared to the GPS 60 frames is noticeable. But in my case I'd rather have a slightly less 'smooth' footage then missing a possible spectacular shark breech again. If Contour reads this review, here is what I would like to see down the road for your next model. Using the camera man as a sort robotic operator is genius, especially when you have your hands full, I would like to see a combo of great battery life, great lense, great camera and the instant on feature on the roam. One more thing would 'take the cake'. Some kind of wireless wrist band display add on that can be viewd in bright sunlight with a possible 'zoom' feature would be simply awesome. However, for what it is, I give the Roam 4 stars, knocking off for the fisheye and 30 fps. The rest of it is rugged and good quality and I highly recommend the Roam for quick instant on so you don't miss your memories fumbling with buttons and praying the device is activated (the camera beeps loudly letting you know when it's on or off)

Good for the price, comparable to the gopro models
I was torn between the GoPro and the contour but the price was about 200 different for the hero2 and hero packages so i decided to try contour out. It placed good reviews on Gizmodo and a few other sites. I originally bought it to record motorcross and such but I plan on using it much more in depth.Pros:I like the way it mounts better than a gopro. The profile is more user friendly for me. My friend has a GoPro and it seems like it takes more effort clearing certain mounts (mainly shorter neck suctions and dash mounts).Simple easy to use one button record and off combinedAlignment laserbuilt in battery, more convenientsnug waterproof case (if you bought it) and it has a handy transport case that fit the camera and a couple wires (mainly the USB plug for charging and PC connect)some accessories for mountingclears short neck mountslens rotates for multiple positioning/mounting up to 180 degreesCons:The sound quality is not noticably better than the GoProDepends on the car but I tried sporty cars on a Z and a Maserati GranTurismo S - I mounted it on the inside back windshield. On sunny days, it will focus on the cabin and wash out the outside so all you see outside of the windows is glare. Mounting it sloser to the window/windshield is much better and quality is good.Roam models need to have PC access to change modesIf you want remote control then you need the GPS and bluetooth modelsGoPro has more mounting options in the kit so you don't have to buy extra but depends on what you are into, it could be aplus or minus. I knew what I wanted so I found it better and cheaper to buy the mounts I wanted.Changing the settings to HD 1080P at 25 FPS will diminish your overall view angle but 720P HD is finedoes not come with 32gb card but you can easily find a good price online from amazon or ebay._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________I haven't found issues with the software you load from the company site even though some people expressed there was and I have PCs with both windows 7 to XP. Didn't try on windows 8 yet. All together I got the waterproof case, extra dash friction mount and window suction cup mount with the roam and 32gb card still for about 200 less than a Hero 2. Not bad for a novice model but it seems well built enough and has good features. Simple without being cheaped on performance. It's a good bang for the buck in my opinion. In hindsight, I might have gotten the GPS or bluetooth model for the convenience of remote recording, etc but I honestly didn't need all the other craziness that came with those models. I wish they just offered remote on this model without the connectivity bells and whistles but overall I'm good with this. We'll see if any other quirks pop up asides from the washout issue.

Contour Roam cool!
This is a very cool cam, great looking on cycle or motorcycle helmet, not to heavy, nice. During the day you cannot fault this, on hell of a picture, excellent, but why I gave this 3 stars is the lack of night recording. If you wish to use this on roads which have street lights, car head lights etc. it is totally rubbish, it cannot perform in very low or dark areas, like i said during the day awesome, night sucks. One otherthing which I find extra ordinary, how come there is no data stamp capabilities on this ? if you wish a data stamp its not on the contour :(

Easy to use and good quality
Good package for the money.Very compact and easy to hold.Sound quality is OK but not as good as a camcorder. The swivel lens is a nice feature for mounting.

いいです。
値段のわりには出来過ぎのいいカメラだが、輸入品のためファームアップができないのでふつうとする。
