Nordstrand Jazz Bass NJ4 Single Coil Pickup Set

These are good pickups and the offer more tonal variation than the Bartolini pickups they replaced. They are kind of mid voiced and for some this is a good thing. If you are trying to get more of a P bass sound out of your Jazz bass these might be just the thing.

I read several reviews in different venues, all claiming that these bass pickups enhanced that unique growl from a Fender Jazz bass. I admit, the price put me off for a while, but I eventually caved and bought a pair. They were a cinch to install, and I could hardly wait to hear them firsthand. Wow, was I ever disappointed! The output was way lower than from standard Jazz pups, and the distinctive growl just wasn't there. Even by running my bass thru a pre-amp, the sound just isn't there. And yes, I double-check my wiring and soldering. My advice: save some cash and buy S-D Quarter Pounders instead.

Such incredible workmanship and sound! The clarity of sound is just outstanding. Replaced a set of factory pickups in my '92 Fender Jazz and it sounds like an entirely different bass. Having played the same bass for over 20 yrs I cant even explain how impressive the difference is. Purchase these and be astounded! ***WARNING: This was not a "drop" in replacement for me. The MIM Jazz i have shipped with 2 neck size pickups from the factory. I had to widen the bridge pickup recess about 1/8"+/- overall and drill new screw holes as well. Still worth every cent and second of time!!

I love the tone to this set of pickups. Its growly and kind of farty but a nice farty lol. It was either this set up or Aguilar pickups and as much as i am curious what Aguilar can do for my tone i am very pleased and blown away by Nordstrand. Will definitely give Nordstrand soapbars a try now. Imo they are nordstrand nj4 pickups remind me of Bartoloni and Emg tones combined which is perfect for the MiM Fender Deluxe i put them in

Outstanding product! I have played bass, taught bass, and bought and sold basses for 45 years now. These "Nordy", Vintage style replacement pickups for Jazz bass sound killer and very easy to install. I put them new Squier and it makes this bass sound 10 times better. They have that classic '60s jazz bass sound: deep, warm fat, and growly! I couldn't be happier with them.
