Way more satisfied with this purchase than I thought I was going to be. The size is great and perfect for a desk or night stand. I use it in my bedroom at college and it is amazing. Keeps the air moist and not so dry. It makes hardly any sound at all and the steam comes out cool so no fear of burning yourself. It comes out at a steady pace and stays on for more than 8 hours. More like 12 hours I believe. Has a night light that I just love too and different settings of water vapor.

I'm going to say that there's a high probability that the humidifier that you purchase might be defective. And here's why: I purchased one of these a week ago. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it sounded even when it was turned on "high," with a barely audible sound. So I left it on overnight, and when I woke up in the morning, the water tank was still full. I returned to the instruction manual to make sure I was doing everything correctly, that it was perfectly level, etc., and tried it again the following evening. No, the water tank was still full after the second night. At this point, I reasoned that the item was defective. But I liked the size, and I liked the way it looked (I liked the aesthetic), so I exchanged it for the same model.So the second one arrived two days later. When I turned it on, it was still quiet but louder than the first, so I reasoned that the motor on the first one must have been defective. I figured that I would have to leave it on overnight to verify it works, but then my wise mother suggested an alternative: Why not leave a Kleenex on the top of the vent, and see how long it takes to get wet. Well, after an hour of leaving it on the "high" setting, the Kleenex was still dry. Our conclusion: This item, too, is defective. I just ordered a humidifier for the third time in under a week -- but this time, we've opted for a different brand. Over the years, I've had good experience with Black & Decker brand in general: toasters, irons, vacuums. Sadly, this item is not of the quality that I have come to expect of B&D products over the years. My recommendation is to opt for another one.

I really like this humidifier. It's small enough to fit nicely on my desk, it lasts all day (8 hours) on low, is dead quiet, and puts out a steady stream of mist. I wouldn't recommend it if you are trying to humidify a whole room, but it works well as a personal humidifier. It's well constructed, easy to refill, and looks sorta space age-ey. I was searching for a humidifier that was easy to clean, didn't require a lot of weekly maintenance, and also wouldn't take up a lot of space. I went with this one, and after a couple of months I'm very happy with it. It is VERY small, slightly wider/shorter than a lava lamp. I keep it on my nightstand with the output aimed toward me and it works for the amount of space I need it for. It is very easy to use, just fill the tank (I have to use my kitchen sink to fill it because my bathroom sink is too shallow) and pop it on the top and press the button until you're in the mode you want: either high/llow with the nightlight on or off. On low it lasts around 8 hours, sometimes I've gotten closer to 10 but I normally don't sleep that long. It is also super quiet. It does have a light hum, but I barely notice it. If you run a fan you won't hear it, otherwise it's present but unless you're very sensitive it shouldn't bother you.A couple potential cons:-I haven't needed to clean it BUT I never let water sit when I'm not using it. When you remove the top part it leaves a little pool of water in the base. When I get up in the morning, I take the top tank off, then take a hand towel and dry up the water left in the base. Not the most glamorous method, but I think people's problems with buildup in the unit is from leaving the water to sit in the bottom when it's not running. I have had zero buildup or stale water issues this way, I just rinse the tank when I refill it.-Once you set the tank in, you can't move the base at all or it will stop working. The first night I got it I thought I had a defective unit because I set the top in and then moved the base to a better area on the nightstand, and five minutes later I got a flashing red light. It took me a while to figure out that this messes up the water pressure in the unit, and fixing it just requires picking up the tank and setting it back on. Not a huge pain but it can be annoying if you accidentally bump it or need to move it once it's on.-No auto off. It does stop when it runs out of water and flashes a red light, but it doesn't completely cut off power. This makes me kind of nervous (even though it's never gotten hot or shown any signs it would) so I keep an eye on how long it's been running.Overall I'm very happy with this unit. It's small, quiet, and not a lot of fuss, which is exactly what I wanted, and the price was great for something I use frequently but not all the time.

This product worked well at first; very small, not a lot of steam, but I didn't expect it to have that much. It started acting up about a month in, sometimes it just would NOT be steam, I'd flush it out, it would work again. Put it away for the summer, took it out for the winter and it worked for 2 days and suddenly stopped working. I've tried to reach out to customer support to try and find out what to do/ how it should be dealt with and cleaned but there is nothing. Basically: spent $30, worked okay for 2 months, then stopped completely.

Happy with this item. It has helped significantly with my sleeping. It is quiet. It is small so can place it easily. On low, lasts about 9 hours. On high, about half that time. Very easy to fill. The night light is a nice touch. Recommend ++

Using it for past month n a half.. Runs very well.. Although the tag that it can run for 12hrs with a full tank at low setting is not very accurate. Although that might depend on the humidity of the room may be. But am very happy with the product. Makes good amount of steam silently and I don't need to worry that my toddler might knock it down n be burnt. I recommend it strongly to all.

The listing says "Black & Decker" but that's not true - it's a no-name product.The provided filters were too short (it only works if the top of it is pressed against the element.) I got it working by cutting/putting a piece of a 2nd filter in there too. Works OK after that.
