Q: specifically what type of wax is used to 'wax' this? beeswax? other type? is it really a biodegradable wax? thanks for any info!

I can't be certain but as someone with 35+ years of textile cut make and trim experience I would say it's a food grade parafin wax such as that used stiffen up chocolate candy. I don't think it's silicone -used to lubricate thread for heavy canvas sewing. Not cost effective. Biodegradeable? If the wee beasties (bacteria) have already eaten most of the metal on titanic I would say yes.

The bags are made in China. These bags are very high quality and affordable.

It feels like leather, but it could be synthetic. Maybe the manufacturer will answer.
