Your local thief probably has a key to your RV storage bins.
Yup, thousands of RVs have been built with the same key for their external storage bins. This upgrade isn't exactly bulletproof either, but it's a whole lot better than the original. While you are at it, you might spend the extra six bucks or so for a metal mounting plate so the lock won't spin in it's mounting.

It's cheap, and probably won't last forever, but it works. If it's not a daily unlock this is great.
I replaced a REALLY bad lock with this, so I'm pleased, but I wish the keys were nicer. For reference, if anyone is looking for it, this replaced the lock in a Harbor Freight tool cart, the bigger one with the lift top and drawers. You can just swap the part over from the other lock that catches the top. The first one sent to me was just a lock with no key or any other parts but that was remedied quickly.

Problem Solved
Problem solving; These are a decent quality. There is one problem that causes most of the negative reviews, but is solvable: With key removed I turned the cam 1/8 turn and it locked in that position with a click. Now I cannot insert the key and the lock is stuck. what to do?There is a way to save the lock. I had the same problem (very frustrating), and figured out a solution; You should have 2 keys for the lock. On the top of the key, is a "tooth" (makes it so the key only fits in one way). Take one of the keys, and file the tooth off (see picture). Carefully file so as not to distort the rest of the key. This will allow the key to be inserted into the lock, but it won't be able to turn the lock tumbler. Hold it in tight, and you can turn the cam on the back to get the keyway back to the regular position. Hang on to the modified tool for the next time the lock decides to rotate out of position.

Good replacement lock
The lock is good and fits well in the Truck toolbox, however, it would be nice if one could specify the cam length needed. I ended up having to cut and grind about half of the cam off so it works. Granted I knew I would have to do that when I ordered it, but it would be very nice if either a choice of lengths were available or we could specify the length needed.

Great quality locks for your RV or travel trailer
We are new to travel trailer camping - it was always tent camping. We purchased a new unit this spring. One of the things I read about on blogs was that the storage compartment locks on many travel trailers (TTs) and RVs use common keys. I found that to be true when we got our TT. I first ordered a different set of tubular locks as they were cheaper in price and as it turned out, cheaper in quality. I returned those and purchased these. These are very sturdy locks. They work terrific. These are the locks you want if you are interested in better security for the compartments on your RV or TT

All were keyed alike, even though we got different cam lengths.
We had 3 door/drawers we needed to change locks, and had a couple of different depths of the wood. We ordered 2 size cam lengths and checked the box for keying the same. When we got them they were all keyed alike. Thank you!!!

Secure and smoothly operating lockset
I share an office and therefore can't rely on having exclusive access to my desk. After a few things went missing from my desk (namely my illegal narcotics and trashy movie collection) I decided it was time to lock it up. My first idea of a hungry rottweiler was denied by my company, unfortunately. This lockset fit perfectly in the location that the old lockset was in, and it came with a new cam and swappable plate that sets the direction of the rotation. Now before I go on my days off I leave dirty diapers or rotten fish in my desk just to tick off my officemate, and he can't get in the desk to remove it! I did find the desk outside once, so there's that.

Locks OK, but....
I bought three of these locks to replace the generic CH751 locks on the storage compartments on an RV.Installation was easy and it appeared that the locks worked well, but a day later I discovered that I could not unlock one of the locks. My guess is that the key must have come out of the lock before it had completed the full 90 degree rotation during the locking process. Therefore the slot on the inner barrel was at about 45 degrees instead of the full 90.Well at this position it is impossible to reinsert the key and I was stuck with a locked compartment.I determined that if I "modified" a spare key, I was able to finally unlock the compartment.I thought this was probably a one time occurrence but a week later I found a different lock had the same problem. My modified key easily opened this lock too.My guess is that for the lock to operate properly, one must push in with constant pressure on the key through the complete rotation of locking or unlocking this lock to keep this from happening.Otherwise the lock performs well.

RV Security
Many RV's built today use one of several keys to open their baggage doors, and all of these can be purchased at RV parts counters. The positive side is if you lose your key, chances are good one of you neighbours in the campground can open it for you. On the security side that is NOT the best situation. I installed the above mentioned locks and yet to run across another RV with them. They are easy to install but you may have to modify the latch to extend it to lock properly. I also purchased a spring loaded cover for weather protection as we live in the Pacific Northwest and it rains a lot. The quality is good and they will do the job for you with better security than OEM in many cases.Barry

Difficult to install.
It does not com with instruction. I need a lock to replace my mail box. It has direction to turn the tongue into the slot. It comes with a ring to fit it's deeth. But if you put it in the key will lock and you can not remove after it locked. No matter which way I adjust it. It will not work right. Very puzzling indeed. Poor design. Don't buy.

Easy Install
I bought another similar lock and found out it was too short to fit the cargo door on my trailer. I looked to Amazon and also discovered "keyed alike" means all locks sold with that have the same key. I found this lock that does not have the same key and it has the proper length (7/8 inch) for my cargo door. The was so easy to install, I removed the 751 lock and put this one in. It took about 15 minutes total. Easy Install. I recommend this product.

For 0 7/8 cylinder length, Ignore the dimension image on the left - READ the text
Almost got misled by the dimension image on the left of the amazon page. Turns out that the image for 0 7/8" cylinder length is actually the 1 1/8" image!!! However, the description text for 0 7/8" is correct so I was able to purchase the required length. The hole for this lock has two flat sides 5/8" apart with the top and bottom arced with a diameter of 3/4".What I am trying to say is "Do not drill a 3/4" round hole. Drill a 5/8" diameter hole and remove extra material on the top/bottom of the hole to give 3/4" vertical measurement peak-to-peakGood quality lock.

Trop faible
